Interjuv:QT Interjuv med Charlie Rose, RottenTomatoes, Filmfocus on Micheal Madsen

Charlie Rose: "So what have you been doing since our last encounter?"

Quentin Tarantino: "I was writing, a World War II movie, hell that was 6 months of just research right there. And then along the way it started to be come this never ending novel, this is a script, and I can't end it. So I decided to switch over to something else. That's when I began to write Kill Bill. And for that time that's what I was doing. I was writing like a novelist was writing, no graphs or pictures or none of that. I let the characters tell me the story, I push them whereever they want."

CR: "Why can't you end it? You can't find in your head a logical, concluding episode to sew it up?" (on the script of Inglorious Bastards)

QT: "You know what it was, it was, uhh, it was, writer's-itis. I just couldn't let go of it. There was this weird thing about it where I had directed Jackie Brown and then it was like the writer in me, I just... became to precious about the page. It had to be like the greatest thing I've ever done. And I just couldn't stop writing. I couldn't turn my head off. It was idea after idea after idea. Then I said look, this is a movie, it can't just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger, but it did. I was so in love with the page, I couldn't stop. Now after I've done Kill Bill I know how to end it, I know how to do all of that, but at that moment, I just couldn't get away from the desk."

CR: "Do you believe this World War II is your Masterpiece? So far, having not filmed a single page of the script?"

QT: "I'd say, what I have written so far is the best I have ever written."

How is 'Inglorious Bastards' going?

I've got tons of material and a lot of stuff written but now I've figured out what to do, I gotta start from page one, square one. I started just before I came on this trip and brought the stuff with me but I haven't had a chance to continue yet. But maybe on the flight back home I'll come back into it. I love writing in other countries. It's a lot of fun

Mine forventninger: :dribble:

Annen fakta: Much like Kill Bill, Inglorious Bastards is somewhat of a derivative movie, being heavily influenced by The Dirty Dozen and Where Eagles Dare. Despite some rumors, this film is not a remake of the 1977 Bo Svenson movie also titled Inglorious Bastards .

Bastards is the project Tarantino worked on in the six years in between the releases of Jackie Brown and Kill Bill. Instead of a conventional 100 to 200 page script, he wrote a 600 page work in three feature-length parts. It has been rumored that the resulting film will be released in two or three parts.

Michael Madsen will star as Babe Buchinsky. Other names rumored to be involved in the project include: Tim Roth, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Paul Walker, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Johnny Depp, John Travolta, Harvey Keitel, Fred Williamson, John Jarratt, Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken

"I've got this Word War Two script I'm working on called Inglorious Bastards, which has been around for a while, and it'll be the biggest thing I've ever done. I probably have another year of writing on that left. I can't say it's going to be my next movie because I have to finish the script, and I have to like it, but it's what I'm working on."

"Yeah, we were talking about Inglorious Bastards a couple of hours a go," Madsen told FilmFocus, "he's got an interesting idea of how to make it. I think he's going to cut it up into a couple of different parts, 'cos it's a big story to tell and he doesn't want to cram it all into one show. I don't know the whole story of how he's going to do it but eventually we'll get there, you know......

We're definitely looking forward. Sin City is due out on June 3rd here in the UK and Inglorious Bastards will hit cinemas about a year after Quentin Tarantino decides to start making it. Whenever that may be."

Et annet, hvor han sankker om skuespillerne.

The always-reliable FilmFocus had an informative little chat with Mr. Michael Madsen during the UK premiere of "Sin City," and the gravel-voiced character actor dished some pretty exciting news about Quentin Tarantino's perpetually upcoming action flick "Inglorious Bastards." Here's what the actor had to say: "Quentin's written it now ... but we've not started shooting yet. I've read it and you know the Dirty Dozen? It's a bit like that."

As far as who a few of his co-stars might be, Madsen offered the following: "It's going to be myself and Tim Roth ... Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy are in it too." The actor assures FilmFocus' Joe Utichi that the film should begin production before the end of the year. Keep your fingers crossed and check out the FF article for the rest of the scoop.
