I have an external soundcard: Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1. The problem is, my mic is active all the time and I don't want it to be. It plays everything that comes through the mic back out through my speakers (I've also tried headphones, but that didn't change anything). I use 2 different online communication/live talking programs; Vetrillo and TeamSpeak, and i have them set to "push to talk" where i have to hit a button to talk. But when I talk, I hear myself through the speakers and that's incredibly annoying. I have followed the following steps with no luck:

"- Open Control Panel

- Open Sound and Audio Devices

- Click the Audio tab

- Under 'Sound playback', click Volume

- On the mixer window, click Options then Properties

- Under 'Adjust volume for', choose Playback (if not already chosen)

- Under 'Show the following volume controls', enable (tick) them all including Microphone (if not already)

- Press OK

- On the mixer window under Microphone, enable (tick) Mute (if not already)"

When I do that, I can't hear myself anymore, but neither can the people I communicate with on TeamSpeak. Only on Ventrilo, but I need both programs to work properly, me being a hardcore gamer and all. I also tried running the Creative Console Launcher and muting the microphone slider under the Playback section, without luck.

Does anyone have any other ideas how to fix the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
