Part 3: Write a text

Choose ONE of the following tasks. Your text should be at least 300 words:

1)Imagine that you are an American soldier in Iraq. Write a diary entry/ a letter home to your parents.

How do you feel about fighting for world peace? How do you feel about the US intervening in a conflict that does not concern you directly? What impressions are you left with – how do you feel about taking a human life, and how does it affect you to see other people suffer? Perhaps you have lost a close friend in combat – does that change the way you feel about this war? Use your imagination!

Title: Dear diary or Dear Mum and Dad

 

2)Write a text in which you discuss reasons why young people choose to demonstrate.

Think of a demonstration as a way to change things, as a peaceful weapon. Should everyone be allowed to demonstrate? What can we accomplish through a demonstration? Should the authorities intervene?

Choose your own title.

 

3)Write a text in which you talk about the kind of work you would like to do when you finish school.

What kind of education or training do you need? What does a typical workday look like? Why have you chosen this profession? What are the upsides and downsides in this profession? What kind of prospects are there in this line of work (possibilities in terms of developing new skills, getting a promotion and advancing, etc.)? Do you know someone who has this kind of job – what have they told you?
