Rockstar Games, those wonderful designers behind the colossal time-sponge Grand Theft Auto, has their Toronto division working on a Playstation 2 game based on that 1979 classic film. The original movie found a gang chased through the gritty streets of New York after being falsely accused of murdering a revolutionary leader who sought to unite all the gangs.

Rockstar (North) successfully captured the flavor of the garish 80s with the gritty and near-perfect Vice City, and with luck have a similar level of talent at their Maple Leaf office to deliver some filthy late-70s funk. Though the game is early in development, violence via 2x4 and baseball bat will most assuredly be included. And, if we're really lucky, guest appearances by David Patrick Kelly and Michael Beck! If their schedules permit, of course.
