Ok, det ser ut som om mappene du har delt er Public og at du ikke har lagt til noen brukere som skal ha adgang til de:

kcontrol->Internet & Network->File Sharing

velg Change på aktuell mappe, huk bort Public, More Samba Options->Users, og legg til de brukerne som skal ha adgang.

Okai, nå er jeg tilbake i XP. Prøvde det du sa over. Først kom jeg ikke inn på serveren i det hele tatt, deretter satt jeg "security lvl" til Share, da kan jeg se mappen, men ikke få tilgang - noe som forsåvidt skal stemme? Spørsmålet er jo da, hvordan får jeg tilgang til serveren?

Yupp, nå står den på user ja. Nå har jeg dog et helt annet problem, skulle koble til noen andre disker, noe som ikke gikk helt smertefritt - fikk deretter litt "hjelp" fra en kar på MSN, og nå vil ikke Kernel starte, herlig ...

 

Edit: Takk Gud, det fungerer igjen. Prøvde på en "cdisk", noe som ga "FATAL ERROR" og reboot ...

Det tok bare hele natta, og halve morgenen, men nå fungerer det nøyaktig slik det skal. Reinstallerte hele serveren, la altså inn Ubuntu på nytt. Deretter installerte jeg Samba, delte mappene, opprettet bruker, før jeg tilslutt åpnet konfigurasjonfilen til Samba, etter litt fram og tilbake der fikk jeg endelig logget meg på med brukernavn og passord!

Kjempebra! Jeg ser at log-in funksjonalitet i Samba er noe mange vil ha, og som ikke er godt nok beskrevet i howto'en, skal ta en ny runde der så snart jeg får tid slik at de neste bør kunne løse dette på et par minutter. Ellers tviler jeg på at noen ny installering var nødvendig, men personlig editerer jeg /etc/fstab manuelt, så jeg er veldig interessert i å høre detaljer rundt hvilke issues du hadde med diskene? Selv om du roter til ting slik at det ikke vil boote, er det nesten alltid fort gjort å få systemet oppe å gå igjen. Siden alle "herjinger" du gjorde med Samba ligger i smb.conf, er også veldig fort gjort å "nullstille" (f.eks. kopiere over en generisk konfig fil), så ikke vær redd for å skru. En liten back-up av sentrale konfig filer kan være en grei ting selvfølgelig, men det er vel alltid brukere her som kan poste en. Du kan redigere fra en live-CD dersom det er så ille at systemet ikke booter.

 

Sånn, da har jeg oppdatert howto'en, du får ta en titt og se om det du har strevd med er godt nok dekket.

Re-installering er ganske sikkert helt unødvendig, selv om det er veldig fort gjort med K/Ubuntu. Hvis du klarer å forklare hva du prøver å sette opp, så er det lett å hjelpe. Bare post smb.conf filen din, så finner vi nok fort ut av det.

Mitt problem med booting var nok ikke relatert til Samba, men heller til IDE-kontrolleren min. Jeg har totalt 4 disker i serveren, 2 SATA og 2 PATA, kun de to førstnevnte fungerer. Tror dog jeg heller skal opprette en ny tråd for dette, så holder vi det oversiktlig :)

Litt tidlig for det ennå, vi vet jo ikke engang om du vil ha log-in til mappen, eller om du bare vil kunne gå rett inn på den (uten å logge inn) fra hvilken som helst bruker/maskin i nettverket ditt.

 

Hvis du kan gi oss svar på det, samt poste hele smb.conf, så finner vi sikkert for ut av det.

Jeg har 5 PC-er koblet sammen med en switch og en router fra netgentel,

Alle pcene er medlem av en workgrp som heter huset.

 

Jeg vil da at jeg skal kunne bruke kubuntu boxen til et felles lagrings område,

 

3 av pcene har ikke passord ved pålogging (kona og 1 hver til ungene) De 2 andre har pålogging med passord.

OS på pcene er 4 x xp og en vista

 

Jeg vil da ha mulighet til å nå kubuntu boxen fra alle pcene, uten å måtte bruke passord.

 

Alle har egen bruker, men altså kun 2 av pcene med passord

OK, flott. Hvis jeg forstår deg riktig vil du da at alle skal ha tilgang til de delte mappene uten å trenge å bruke brukernavn og passord når de går inn på delt mappe. Da må du sette ned sikkerhetsnivået til Share som forklart i den første skjulte biten i punkt 1.4 her:

Så anbefaler jeg deg å opprette mappen du skal dele i hjemmekatalogen til brukeren din på Kubuntu maskinen, nå har du lagt den helt øverst i et område vanlige brukere ikke normalt har adgang til. Fra terminal oppretter du mappen f.eks. slik:

mkdir /home/tore/hjemme
så legger du den til som delt mappe etterpå i kcontrol, drar og slipper de filene du måtte ønske ned i den mappen, så starter du samba på nytt med
sudo /etc/init.d/samba reload

Nå skal mappen komme opp i XP der hvor delte mapper kommer opp (network places eller noe slikt, jeg har begynt å glemme hvordan det så ut i MS, sorry).
