BlastyTrasty Skrevet 11. oktober 2007 Del Skrevet 11. oktober 2007 (endret) Electronic Arts just announced that they have "acquired" both BioWare and Pandemic Studios. EA cut a deal with Elevation Partners to buy up VG Holding Corp, which owns both companies. "These are two of the most respected studios in the industry and I'm glad to be working with them again. They'll make a strong contribution to our strategic growth initiatives on quality, online gaming and developing new intellectual properties," said John Riccitiello, EA's Chief Executive Officer. "We also expect this will drive long-term value for our shareholders." "Pandemic Studios remains focused on attracting the best talent and creating blockbuster action games," said Josh Resnick, President and Co-founder of Pandemic Studios. "As a worldwide publishing leader, EA represents the ideal partner to bring our titles to market as global entertainment events." "We are truly excited by John Riccitiello's new vision for EA," said Ray Muzyka, Co-founder and CEO of BioWare Corp. "This vision is consistent with BioWare's focus on crafting the highest quality story-driven games in the world. It will enable us to further the careers of the passionate, creative and hard working teams at BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Austin."Those.Fucking. Guys. De gir seg aldri de der.. EA gir seg ikkje før dei har øydelagt alt kreativt talent, og laga mega franchises av alt. Gledar meg til Mass Effect 28 i 2009. Fy faen. Dykk får unnskylde fransken min, men dette her går over stokk å stein. kjelde Ein veldig god post på BioWare foruma; So we all know the big news that you were bought out. The question many of you must be asking yourselves is this: what should I do next? By “you” I mean the creative force behind these games. It may look bad now, but actually you have a unique opportunity to turn this into something good. Your options look like this:Yes, you could stay. Don’t fool yourself- all this nonsense about being the same as before is nothing more than desperate hope. EA squeezes every dollar out of their units. This strategy includes working their employees long hours for slave wages. It helps the bottom line. Let me tell you this: you are no exception to the bottom line. You will work for nothing and probably leave anyway. The creative force of your company will be shattered as different pieces gravitate toward various software giants. That’s only if you accept being lowest on the totem. The hardest and potentially most profitable route is to break off and form your own company. Bioware’s assets aren’t so much the IP’s or the great management- it is you, the creative force behind the company. Investors know this, and would be willing to fund a new enterprise based on your considerable pedigree. I’m in the business world right now, and I can tell you that there would be considerable interest. You can retain control over the company by making every employee a shareholder.Your choices are salaried slavery or a hard road with the potential to amass considerable personal fortunes for each of you. Choose wisely.BTW, I have business experience. This might be locked, but it is not merger discussion. It's more of a "what do you plan to do" and to give you some ideas about your options.Good luck, guys. It's been great.
