Info om subclassene i AoC.

Anbefalte innlegg

Hei

Hi

Most of the things I write here is inspirated by AoC.wikia.com, not pure write of, but I get lots of my information from there. (no copy'n'paste! :D ) (Support this page!) The rest is from my mind/forum experiences and so on. Very well, over to the subject:

----------------------------

There is 4 primary classes, as you allready might know. Soldier, Priest, Mage and the Rogue. All very common classes for a mmo or any other roleplaying game. But the thing that is so 'special' about Age of Conan is the subclasses. And these are:

The Soldier:

  • Conqueror
    Dark Templar
    Guardian

The Priest:

  • Priest of Mitra
    Scion of Set
    Druid of the Storm
    Bear Shaman

The Mage

  • Herald of Xotli
    Demonologist
    Necromancer
    Lich

The Rogue:

  • Barbarian
    Ranger
    Assassin

Now that we're done with the basics, we can go to the next level : )

*------------------*DING*-----------------*

GZGZGZGZGZGZGZGZGZGZGZ

Very well! : ))

We start with the soldier:

As earlier mentioned, the subclasses are Conqueror, Dark Templar, Guardian. Basicly, you can say that the Conqueror are the 'battlemaster', the Dark Templar is the 'tank' and the Guardian is the 'armored dps'.

The Conqueror:

The Conqueror can be said to be the leader in the battlefield. The Conqueror charges into battle, inspirating fellow allies. The Conqueror carries with himself a battle standard (some kind of flag,) boosts his teams damage done, and the Conqueror has the ability to stomp the battle standard into the ground. The Conqueror wears heavy armor.

The Conquerors strategi is based on relaying on his reflexes and dogding the enemys attack, and beeing able to use every weapon of every kind. Duel wield, polearm, two-handed sword, you name it!

Specialties:

  • 1HE, 1HB, 2HE, 2HB
Specialized combo lists for dual wielding and two-handed
Can dual-wield any combination of 1HE/1HB
    Group buffs
    Tank
    Heavy armor

Playable for:

  • Aquillonians
    Cimmerians

The Dark Templar:

Dark Templar is a new subclass for mmo's, for me atleast. They aren't any superdupah-damage-burst-class, but they will have a chance to take out many enemies anyway. The trick about the Dark Templar is that he uses his attacks to regain health, so every hit with his sword. will heal him. Therefore the Dark Templar is the only subclass who can heal, except the priest subclasses, and if you were wondering, yes, he can heal others than only himself trough spells. The Dark Templar wears heavy armor, shield and a blade. He/She also got some spells, but no spellweaving.

The Dark Templars strategi is to survive for a long time and suck all life out of his enemies. The Dark Templar wears heavy armor and a shield, and are therefore hard to strike down, for melee classes atleast. We'll see how it's going to be for spellcasters/rangers.

Specialties:

  • 1HE, 1HB
    Life drain
    Unholy damage
    Aura for one group buff
    Team life transfer
    Lifetap

Playable for:

  • Aquillonians
    Cimmerians

The Guardian:

The Guardian is the typical warrior, he can use a wide specter of weapons, and he wears heavy armor and often uses a shield. The Guardian focuses on ruining his enemies armor, so the enemy loses health more rapidly in time. The Guardian also know how to handle the polearm very well, and he can suprise his enemies with his swiftness with the heavy weapon. The Guardian is a pure melee class, and got quite a few special combo attacks for one-hand and polearm, that no other subclass got.

The Guardian focuses on smashing his enemies defence as earlier said, and therefore he got attacks that make his foes bleed, their armor to get temporarly broken and he also got attacks to take his enemies breath away, leaving them unable to attack.

Specialties:

  • 1HE, 1HB, Pole arm
Specialized combo lists for on-hand and polearm lines
    Shield
    Directional damage mods
    Tank
    Heavy armor (including full plate)
Smashing his enemies defence and bleeding attacks

Playable for:

  • Aquillonians
    Cimmerians

---

The Priest:

The Priest's subclasses is Priest of Mitra, Scion of Set, Druid of the Storm and Bear Shaman. All of these subclasses are very different, and you will be able to choose between many different original classes if you want to choose the priestish way.

The Priest of Mitra:

The Priest of Mitra is the typical 'nice' Priest we know from many other mmo's, rpg's and other games/comic's and so on. This subclass is based on beeing supportive to his allies, trough healing, buffing and the Priest of Mitra also got AoE (area of effect,) healing. The Priest of Mitra is the most purest healing subclass in AoC, and will much likely be the main healing in any group or raid (though, we've seen where it has gone with WoW and other mmo's, that the priest gets in the shadows, and beeing pushed out by druid healers, paladins etc. Lets hope Funcom know what to do...) The Priest of Mitra are priests of, well, the god Mitra, of course. They stand by his words and worship what he does/tell them to do. They live by him.

The Priest of Mitra is a spellcaster, and therefore he basicly sucks in melee fights. He chooses to smite his enemies from a distance, beeing safe from attacks. The Priest of Mitra are also able to use shields (!) to make him less vurnable. The Priest of Mitra will therefore be the slow leveler, but will be greatly appriciated troughout the games dungoens. But as the prieview of the Priest of Mitra on ageofconan.com said;

Far from just being the one who put bandages on your wounds, the Priest of Mitra is also an able damage dealer – especially due to their potent nuke spells. But though they do master melee combat, their skills are considerably more limited in that regard.
So you might be able to be a damage dealer to, we'll see.

Specialties:

  • Healer
    Repulse area of effect ability
    Buffs
    1HB, 1HE
    Shield

Playable for:

  • Aquillonians
    Cimmerians

The Scion of Set

The Scion of Set is a balance between healer, and damage dealer. They got great healing abilities, but their main strenght is from their blessing of the snake god Set. They deal damage trough poisons, and can boost their allies weapons with venom on them, dealing more damage. The Scion of Set can also become a snake, trough the spell 'Avatar of Set'.

The Scion of Set is therefore mainly a damage dealer, with abilities to heal and a spell to turn themself more harmfull with becoming a snake in the blessing of the snake god. They focus on dealing damage trough poisons and venoms, they also boost their allies with venomed weapons.

Specialties:

  • Healer
    Poison spells
    Dagger
    1HB
    1HE

Playable for:

  • Stygians

The Druid of the Storm:

The Druid of the Storm is a naturistic subclass. He are as one with the nature, and with their shamanic powers they can call down storms and lightning to attack their foes. He can also call upon swarms of bees and hortnets as allies. The Druid of the Storm are also able heal, both his allies and himself.

The Druid of the Storm focuses on dealing electral damage trough lightning from the sky, call upon swarms of bees and such to attack his enemies and healing his allies to keep them alive trough the combat.

Specialties:

  • Healer
    Electrical damage
    Summon storms, hurricanes and bees
    Damage over time
    1HE, 1HB, Pole Arm

Playable for:

  • Aquilonians
    Stygians

The Bear Shaman:

The Bear Shaman is also a naturistic subclass, focusing on nature-based damage and spells. But the Bear Shaman doesn't rely on storms and such, but on the animals that the woods hold. The Bear Shaman, like it's name, can be infused with the power of the bear, and they can actually become a bear themself on higher level, making them harder to struck down and giving them damage boost. The Bear Shaman is the only priest class beeing able to wear medium armor.

The Bear Shaman focuses on rendering and mauling his enemies while in bear form/inspirated by the power of the bear. The Bear Shaman can also heal, though, while in bear-form they will probably not be able to heal, not other allies. The Bear Shaman also buffs it's party with defencive buffs.

Specialties:

  • Healer
    Group resistance
    Defensive buffs
    2HB
    2HE

Playable for:

  • Cimmerians

---

The Mage:

The Mages subclasses are Demonologist, Necromancer, Lich and Herald of Xotli. The Mage class is the only class who can spellweave, and The Mage is only choosable for the Stygians. They wear cloth armor, all of them. The Mages are pure damage dealers, all with different sights on how to deal the damage, but all are spellcasters. Because they wear cloth armor, they can stand much attacks, specially melee attacks and will therefore try to struck down their enemies as quick as possible.

The Herald of Xotli:

The Herald of Xotli is an interesting subclass, with it's ability to turn himself into a demon. The Herald of Xotli has digged himself deeply in the dark powers of demonology, and can be concidered an 'evil' mage subclass if you want to.

The Herald of Xotli are mainly interested in smashing his opponets trough melee attacks (in/out of demon form,) rather than using spells. But do not mistake, they got some dangerous spells to, like the rest of the mages.

Specialties:

  • Summon weapons
    Demon form
    Melee mage
    2HE
    2HB

Playable for:

  • Stygians

The Demonologist:

The Demonologist is a typical demon-based spellcaster, some kind of like the Herald of Xotli. But the Demonologist doesn't turn himself into a demon, he calls them to fight for him, forcing them to be his pets. The Demonologist isn't that intellectual like the other mage subclasses, and has therefore maybe not that much varity in spells, but he can still call upon demons, so he shouldn't be underestimated.

The Demonologist is like the name, based on using demons. He uses them as pets to fight for him and giving him damage boosts.

Specialties:

  • Fire or Electrical Direct Damage
    Demon pet
Short duration buff to increase casting abilities

Playable for:

  • Stygians

The Necromancer:

The Necromancer is the 'dark' and unholy mage, based on unholy or cold damage. He can be said to be a shadow-mage, using dead corpses to fight for him and corrupts the living. Unlike the Demonologist he doesn't need his pets to kill enemies, he can handle them easily himself.

The Necromancer kills with cold/unholy/dark/shadowy spells, and raises living dead in aid to struck down his enemies.

Specialties:

  • Cold or Unholy Direct Damage
    Undead pets
    Lifetap

Playable for:

  • Stygians

The Lich:

The last of the mage subclasses. The Necromancer gets aid from the dead, but the Lich actually turns dead himself. When he embraces himself with the dead he becomes far more powerfull, mainly physical damage and he also gets much more resilience, getting harder to struck down, he goes into battle and smashes his enemies in melee, but he also uses spells here.

The Lich focuses on beeing as one with the dead, gained powers and using it in melee combat, but he also got a nice spellbook.

Specialties:

  • Summon weapons
    Melee mage
    Undead form
    2HB
    2HE

Playable for:

  • Stygians

---

The Rogue:

Now the last class, The Rogue. This class focuses on strucking down his enemies as fast as possible, no matter what it takes (especially the barbarian and assassin.) They deal great damage, not like any other class, and much quicker and better than any other class. But in order to do that they all got their sacrifices, like the barbarian doesn't wear better armor than cloth, the assassin got to use money on poisons. They all wear lighter armor in order to get as high mobility as possible. The Rogue isn't as honored as the soldier, and will, as earlier mention, used any neccassary need to kill his enemy. According to The Lore and such, they are not the most honored class, and goes also under the name 'thief'.

The Barbarian:

The Barbarian is the manic running around in small cloth trouses, wielding two axes slaughtering all in his way. Conan himself, is a barbarian. If you know Conan well, you know the class Barbarian well. The Barbarian are muscluar, and takes alot of pain and bases his attacks on pure strenght and agility. He also got two-handed weapon- AoE attacks. The Barbarian can be called to be a street fighter, having learnt alot of his tricks in bar fights. The Barbarian is shortly said, a manic who slaughters everything, and with everything, I mean everything.

The Barbarian focuses on beeing very mobile, only wearing small cloth armor. He are a strong man, and got a phanter like agility. The Barbarian can pick up almost any weapon, and he knows how to handle them all to litararly smash/cut his opponents into pieces.

Specialties:

  • 1HE, 1HB, 2HE, 2HB
Has specialized combo lists for dual wielding and two-handed
Can dual-wield any combination of 1HE/1HB
    Damage debuff
    Snare
    Blind
    Damage-over-time
    Berserking
    Armor debuffs
    Stun
    Evasion debuff
    Multi-target combos

Thats a few attacks!

Playable for:

  • Aquilonians
    Cimmerians

The Ranger: (waylayer if you'd like.)

The Ranger is, well, a ranger. He uses bows or crossbows as primary attacks. The Ranger is also the only subclass who can shoot his bow/crossbow while riding a horse. The thing that is so special about the ranger is the aiming-ability, you have to actually aim and string your bow yourself. You can also enter first-person to shoot/aim. The Ranger also got a wide aspect of quilvers (probably a typo :s), all of them got different features. The Ranger also got the ability to get into different stances. The stances we know so far is; Volley stance (AoE,) Sniper stance (boosts damage and aim,) Piercing stance (can shoot trough enemies, hitting whats behind it.) The Ranger also got a hide-attack, beeing able to hide in the bushes/shadows, and suprising his enemies and disoriatating them, the foe get crippled and won't be able to move as fast as normal. Another special thing about the ranger is that they got tracking ability, tracking other players. And they also got traps. The Ranger got great ranged attacks, but of course, his melee attacks are limited.

The Ranger got a nice armory of attacks, traps, tracking ability, stances and suprising attacks. He can deal nice damage from afar, but are very vurnabale when an enemy gets close. Stay close to the ranger, and he will be more or less an easy target for other melee subclasses.

Specialties:

  • 1HE, 1HB, 2HE, 2HB
    Volley attacks
    Sniper attacks
    Damage-over-time
    Piercing attacks
    Knockdown attacks
    Bow and crossbow
    Shield
    Mounted range combat
    Ranged combos

Thats a few attacks!

Playable for:

  • Aquilonians
    Cimmerians
    Stygians

The Assassin:

The Assassin is the tradidional rogue/thief. He specialices himself with wielding two daggers, and he really stands up to the 'I will kill you, no matter what it takes!' The Assassin are masters of murdering and pain, inspirated by the dark necromancy. The Assassin won't show mercy to his foes when he slaugther them, so if you see an Assassin in your path, be ready to die, quickly, but painfully.

The Assassin focuses on killing his enemies at all cost, using poisoned weapons, elixirs and disorienting his foes. The Assassin also got special attacks to drain soul essences from his enemies, which he can use to perform special attacks. But the Assassin isn't just pure damage dealer, he also got some boost to his party trough his poisons.

Specialties:

  • Dual-wielding daggers
Option of using either bonus poison damage or bonus unholy damage
Draining soul essences to use with special attacks
    Damage-over-time
    Damaging disorienting
    Slowing poisons
    Restorative elixirs

Playable for:

  • Aquilonians
    Stygians

That was all! I hope you enjoyed this info, even though lots of this are super basic, and you guys probably know most of it allready.

------

Correct me if I'm wrong at anything!

(the races that each subclass are avalible to, is not yet complete/I couldn't find any final answer, pages won't decide yet.)

(and if you were wondering, 1/2HB is for 1 or 2 -handed blunt weapons, and 1/2HE is for 1 or 2 -handed egded weapons.)

(some of the info might be wrong, since Funcom has changed stuff thats on the different pages/forums and info they got on their own page, ageofconan.com to.)
