Dell Vostro, rykter, spekulering, info og fakta?

Prøvde å finne litt info om Vostro serien som Dell vistnok skal komme ut med. Siden det var lite å finne fant jeg ut at det kanskje var greit å samle det opp i tilfelle flere er interesserte?

Dell leaks new Inspiron, Vostro notebook lines

Dell plans one of the greatest changes to its notebooks to date when it completes the switchover to Intel's Santa Rosa platform, the company has inadvertently revealed today through a series of official documents. While details remain elusive, the company will introduce a third notebook range. The 15-inch Vostro 1500 and 17-inch Vostro 1700 (PDF) will each be far sleeker than current Inspiron designs, with a subtler row of media keys for playing DVDs and music without starting Windows. Both will ship with 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processors and either 80GB (for the 1500) or 120GB (1700) of hard disk space.

To begin the updates, Dell plans to introduce a new lineup of notebooks called the Vostro. The Vostro range will come in two form factors, the 15-inch Vistro 1500 and the 17-inch Vostro 1700. They will weight around 3Kg and 3.6Kg respectively. The Vostro range will be powered by Intel's Santa Rosa mobile platform. No AMD here!

As they are wont to do, the folks at Notebook Italia have turned up some details on a fresh new batch of laptops, including a bundle of new Inspirons from Dell and a pair of new models in the company's hereto unheard of "Vostro" line. The new entries in the Inspiron line include the 1520, 1521, 1720, and 1721, each of which pack either 15.4-inch or 17-inch displays, and boast either Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion 64 X2 processors. The Vostro models on the other hand, appear to be Intel-only (at least from what's been revealed so far), with the Vostro 1500 coming equipped with a 15.4-inch display and the Vostro 1700 upping things to a 17-inch screen. Unfortunately, those are about all the specs that are known at the moment, although it doesn't look like we'll have to wait long to find out more, as all but one of the laptops are reportedly set to be released on June 26th, with the Vostro 1700 following later in July.

Update: The laptop above is a new Inspiron, not a Vostro. Those, apparently, are all black.

Now that the new Inspirons are out, I was wondering when the Vostros would be released. What we know so far is that they'll be an all black version of the Inspirons and sold through Dell's business websites to differentiate them from the consumer oriented Inspirons.

Er selv veldig nysgjerrig på denne nye modellen, og det høres veldig spennende ut at man kan bruke den som en DVD-spiller uten å sette i gang Windows (betyr det at man også slipper viftestøy?). For en 17" blir det jo en perfekt underholdningsmaskin.

 

Hva tror dere om prisene?

Blir denne stivere i pris enn Inspirion?

 

Har prøvd å få noe informasjon fra Dell, men det meste jeg har fått med meg er en ca. lanseringsdato den 7. juli - men denne ble rett etter også dementert av andre hos Dell.

Jeg kan ikke helt se hvordan de skal differensiere denne serien fra Latitude, ettersom Santa Rosa-Latituder allerede er lansert/på vei. Uansett, spennende blir det!

En ting jeg ikke skjønner. Denne maskinen er jo praktisk talt en media-maskin. Trodde forbrukermarkedet, ikke bedriftsmarkedet, som var den store kjøperen av slike pc-er. Så hvorfor bare selge til bedrifter?

Ja, det lurte jeg og på. Men det er vel rene spekulasjoner så det kan vel fort vise seg at det er galt :-) I tillegg har dem jo Dell Precision M4300 maskina for business da (som også har den lekre 1920x1200 skjermen som valg) http://www.dell.com/content/products/produ...c=us&l=en&s=biz

It was indeed a bunch of bunk, may have been rooted in a code name used several months ago by Dell for the laptops released today. There are no more laptops coming from Dell, what you see is what you get. Closing this thread.
