Hard drive totally broken?

Anbefalte innlegg

It still can be!

Do you have a different drive you can install windows on?

You can also dl' Ultimate boot CD, and try running diagnostics from there...

This was your system disk, yes?

Hello again.

I'll try to find a solution for you.

Try to press F8 during boot, and choose "Sikkerhetsmodus"

Try to boot up with this, if this does not function either. Boot up with the old computer again.

Now, you said you could'nt find the harddrive. Is this in My Computer? Or in disc-manager?

I need some more info of you.

You could try something like Partition Magic or something, Third-party-programs to check if they can find you disc.

I think the problems lie in the boot. Windows writes thousands of files to harddrive during every boot. You will need a program to stop this from happening.

Ok safe mode doesnt boot up. In my computer it cant find the sata drive. I downloaded maxtor dos disc (seagate now) and it does see the disc but is unable to offer anything in the recovery department from what I can see. I tried my hirens disc and that cant even see the drive, I assume because its a sata drive. So what do you think I should do next? What can this ultimate boot cd offer? Recovery of the complete drive?

Ok but whats the chance of this actually working. I mean yes the drive is spinning now but if it hasnt worked after changing the circuit board then is there any chance that I can recover anything? Must be a different circuit board and therefore perhaps different software or else it would of worked straight away?

This is the clue that it at least finds it. If there is life, there is hope :D

I did something similar once. My GFX card had just died (I was seriously pissed off) and I was putting my comp back together. I had just fired up my comp when I noticed that the power cable on my music HDD wasn't plugged in. In anger I just put it back in, well I tried to put it back in but it was upside down. The pins just made contact and there was a large bang followed by the stench of burned electronics.

I gave up all hope with the HDD but left it lying around just in case. 2 years later I was helping a friend with his computer and I noticed that he had the same harddisk. He let me borrow it to use the circuit board. After having changed the circuit boards I fired up my comp, hoping to salvage all of my lost music.

To make a long story short, it didn't work at all. The HDD didn't spin and wasn't recognised by the comp. Then when I put the circuit board back on my friends HDD that didn't work either. So whilst trying to salvage my data I ended up buggering yet another HDD and had to buy him a new one...

Sounds like things are going a bit better for you! The disk spins and it's visible in the BIOS, which means that all hope isn't lost. When you get a new HDD to try with the it will hopefully work!

Hope things work out for you, I know what it's like loosing important data!

Yes, its very frustrating for sure. Hoping I have better luck buying another one.

Anyway here is a picture of my broken drive. But which one do you think I should order? This one:http://www.databasen.no/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:699193;c:36376;r:pg

Or one of these: https://prisguiden.no/product.php?productId=25470

I think the first one as as its got sata150 in the name. The others have a different model number. Cant find the model number on my broken drive.....

edit: seems like the model number is 6B200MO in which case I cant get it in norway anymore... :( So time to accept that my data is lost forever. All worth a try.

Thank you once again to everyone for your time and effort. Nice to know help is available when you need it. Oh and if anyone has a Maxtor 6B200MO laying around let me know.
