Best performance of Intel PD 945 or Intel C2D E640

Trying to decide between the two. Similar price but what about performance wise? Both have dobbelkjerne but the Pentium D has 3.4ghz and the E6400 2.2ghz.

Core 2 Duo is newer, has newer designe on the core, should be the better buy, check if there is any comparison test on the web, like www.tomshardware.com, they usually compare all CPU's to date in a single graph.

Thanks alot for that. That chart guide on the middle right hand side is great. Wish I had of known about it before buying my apparently rubbish graphics card!

You really don't need the E6600 if you have already have a crappy system. Just go for the E6400. Even E4300 or E6300 would be good choises.

 

Personally I would've purchased the E4300, due to its supreme overclocking abilities.

But I have to say that Im really disappointed with the results. Still lag with alot of games.... Thats why I am looking at upgrading again with a better processor. What would you guys suggest?

I am trying all resolutions at the moment. Around 1280 x 800 on most games. I dont understand why this graphics card is so bad? 512mb gddr3 pci-e........ Could it be a setting I have wrong?

Probably no settings wrong.. It's not an up to date graphic card..

the amamunt of vram has little to do with how good the card is, as an example, my two 7800 GTs have only 256 MiB ram when used in SLi, but they wil probably beat yours by a margin of at least two.

 

A 8800 GTS 320 is round 2000 kr and gives god prefomance, considering you does not use 1600 x 1200 and upp you realy do not need more vram.

 

A e6300 or a e6400 would be nice to, and maybe some more ram, then you wil have a realy beefy computer
