"NVIDIA Corporation revealed the GeForce FX technical details as well as the clock-speeds of the higher-end GeForce FX 5800 Ultra VPU in November, but they have not declared the speeds of the GeForce FX 5800-based graphics cards that are said to be a bit slower, but more affordable. I have no idea why they decided to remain tight-lipped about them, keeping in mind that 0.13 micron technology should allow the VPUs to achieve very high clock-speeds without any problems, but fortunately, the guys from Reactor Critical web-site managed to dig into some unofficial information and unveil the frequencies of the forthcoming solution from NVIDIA.

 

According to our colleagues, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5800-based products will be clocked at 400/900MHz for core/memory, not so much lower compared to the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra powered products with 500/1000MHz speeds respectively. Thanks to lower frequencies of the graphics processor and memory, GeForce FX powered graphics card manufacturer will be able to install simplified and quieter cooling systems on the products. All the GeForce FX powered graphics cards will be equipped with 128MB of memory as well as D-Sub, DVI-I and TV-Out connectors.
