Installerte Zenwalk linux på en gammel bærbar pc.

Men hvordan installere og avinstallere programmer?

 

Jeg har også tilkoblet en 3CRUSB10075 3Com USB WIFI adapter som ikke funker, hvordan installere driver til denne.

Zenwalk bruker pakkebehandleren netpkg for å installere og avinstallere programvare.

Du finner netpkg under System i programmenyen (høyreklikk på desktopen)

Når det gjelder din 3CRUSB10075 3Com USB-dongel bruker den i følge denne siden zd1211 driveren.

Det er to metoder å få denne dongelen til å funke. (vel, det er tre, men jeg liker ikke ndiswrapper løsningen)

 

Fra og med kjerneversjon 2.6.18 er zd1211 driveren inkludert i kjerna under navnet zd1211rw. Desverre er ikke zd1211rw kompilert inn i kjernen eller som modul som standard fra Zenwalk. Så for å bruke zd1211rw kjerne-driveren må du nok rekompilere kjerna sjøl.

 

Andre mulighet er å bruke zd1211 driveren. Det er en åpen driver basert på den gamle driveren som ZyDAS, brikkeprodusenten, sluttet å opprettholde etter de ble kjøpt av Atheros. zd1211 blir lagd av de samme folka bak zd1211rw.

Jeg ville kanskje valgt zd1211rw sjøl, men zd1211 er kanskje enklere å installere siden du da slipper å leke med kjerna.

Bare en ting...

Jeg ser jeg trenger kernelsource for å installere driveren.

Overalt ser jeg instruksjoner for hvordan installere kernelsource fra netpkg, men jeg er ikke koblet til nett med denne maskinen så jeg må installere den fra CD eller USB stick.

Hvordan gjør jeg dette?

Hmm, ser ut til at D-Link DWL-G650+ trenger ACX100 eller ACX111 driveren i linux.

Så langt jeg vet er hverken av disse inkludert i main-kjerna ennå.

Hvilken zd1211 driver forsøkte du deg på?

Og. Trengte du firmware til den? Det kan være mulig at det ikke funker pga. manglende firmware...

Og hvilke USB-typer som maskina støtter kan du finne ut gjennom kommandoen lspci.

i et terminalvindu. Hvis linja for info om USB-kontrolleren inneholder EHCI er det en USB2.0 kontroller.

UHCI får jeg frem, er vel USB 1.1

Du finner bare UHCI når du kjører lspci -v altså. Det er riktig kun USB1.1

Da ser ut som om dongelen ikke helt liker kun USB1.1 get.

 

Det var leit.

 

Hvilke muligheter for tilkobling av trådløskort har maskina? Kun USB1.1 og PCMCIA?

Sammenlikna litt mellom Zenwalk installasjonen min og denne listen over PCMCIA-kort

Ser ut til at de fleste Prism2/2.5/3, Orinoco og Atmel skal funke ut-av-boks på Zenwalk.
