Kubin Skrevet 5. februar 2007 Del Skrevet 5. februar 2007 Det irakiske politiet er så infiltrert av Al Sadrs menn at amerikanske soldater i Baghdad sier det er Al Sadrs menn som egentlig styrer byen : "Mahdi Army gains strength through unwitting aid of U.S. (...) U.S. Army commanders and enlisted men who are patrolling east Baghdad (...) said al-Sadr's militias had heavily infiltrated the Iraqi police and army units that they've trained and armed. "Half of them are JAM. They'll wave at us during the day and shoot at us during the night," said 1st Lt. Dan Quinn, a platoon leader in the Army's 1st Infantry Division, using the initials of the militia's Arabic name, Jaish al Mahdi. "People (in America) think it's bad, but that we control the city. That's not the way it is. They control it, and they let us drive around. It's hostile territory." http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/16600612.htm Hvis dette er slik, vil det bare gjøre ting værre jo mer shiaer som blir opptrent? Her fra Newsweek : "(...) the Mahdi Army has been continuing to systematically take over Sunni neighborhoods, killing, terrorizing and forcing people out of their homes. "They're slowly moving across the river," he told Hastings, from predominantly Shiite eastern Baghdad into the predominantly Sunni west.(...) Colonel Duke puts it bluntly: "[The Mahdi Army] is sitting on the 50-yard line eating popcorn, watching us do their work for them." (...) The U.S. Army will be actively aiding and assisting in the largest program of ethnic cleansing since Bosnia. Is that the model Bush wanted for the Middle East?" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16610769/site/newsweek/ Lenke til kommentar
