Stian89 Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 Fucking hell! School starts tomorrow, and I get the impression that people are looking forward to it. What the fuck's wrong with people!? 9314510 Hell no I aint looking forward to it! I'm starting on a new school aswell.. 9314523 That ain't so bad. Im sure you'll get to chill the first week; get to know eachother better. My first year (If you're starting VG1) was pure chill. The curriculum wasn't hard at all (In most classes), so we got to chill a lot. Will you be using laptops at your school? 9314570 Yeah... what's the deal with laptops nowadays? I think a lot of "videregående" schools are into this now. At least at my school, each first grader is required to use a laptop. Could be interesting. Doesn't apply as a requirement for me though, seeing as I'm in third. Although I've been using a laptop since tenth grade, so going back to books and pencils for me is completely out of the question. I remember having to fight and argue a lot with pretty much all of my teachers, as well as the school administrators back in the tenth grade, just to be able to use my freakin' laptop in class. For some reason they had such fucking problems with it... Lenke til kommentar

If we're going to use laptops at our school, I don't know really.. I doubt that we are getting laptops anyway, but I have one of my own aswell. A bit better. First thing to do tomorrow I guess is to fix some system to get free buss every day.. 9314591 Just remember, dont be the shy and passive guy. Be talkative and blend in. Most are probably a little nervous, so don't be afraid to start a conversation. People love conversation starters Stian: Yep, I started VG1 last year and it was required to have a laptop. You could either get one yourself or lease one from the school. It worked out great though. It's so much easier in class (taking notes etc..). I think the whole laptop revolution in school was a good thing, even though it might ruin for the so-called "weak" ones who just sit and play all day long. That is partly true though. Using computers in school has made school easier and more fun. You can even play counter-strike over the school-network. (Yep, been there. 50% of my class are / were gamers). Fruktkake Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 I don't want them to be the administrator on my PC. Although I now know how to crack Vista passwords since I learned that after my final examination in 10th grade (note: after I had written it, for funs sake). Lenke til kommentar
Stian89 Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 My guess is that most school computer administrators are to retarded to be able to "administrate" anything. At least that's the case with the douche who works at my school. Lenke til kommentar

Gjest Slettet-v6cLnSOv3V Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 (endret) When it comes to computers, most teachers are generally stupid! You can sit and play WC3 or counter strike in class, and just minimize it as they come and check on you. Cheating on tests is a lot easier aswell, even though I've never chea... Ok once! That's it! xD Endret 19. august 2007 av Slettet-v6cLnSOv3V Lenke til kommentar
Stian89 Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 (endret) I just don't understand how the teachers are going to administrate anything? What are you guys picturing? That they'll have some equivalent of radmin installed on every machine? Most teachers are well in their forties, some way older, and most of them live in a plastic bubble where they think that internet explorer _is_ the internet, and the most advanced thing they've ever done is opened up minesweeper... Also, of course I'll be running Linux (who the hell uses windows (yes, a shitload of you do)), so any remote administration on that level wouldn't really work out. (The day I'll meet a teacher who's heard of another operating system than windows, I'll eat my own hand.) The most "administrating" i can picture the school doing is maybe being able to look at a little bit of the net traffic going on as students hook up to the wireless network. But I've heard that the trick is to have the program/game just installed on the ipod, and it is just to connect the ipod and play Lenke til kommentar

Fruktkake Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 Well I think they want to keep us from installing programmes since the majority of computer users are stupid. That way I can understand it, but there are the ones of us that know what we're doing. And force us to use their programmes for sending in our homework. Lenke til kommentar
Gjest Slettet-v6cLnSOv3V Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 At our school, we even had a computer on the network called "evil-server", where you could find movies, music, games etc.. A "network msg" program proved to be very popular on mock-exams and such. Stupid teachers think its enough to steal our intarnetz. (Closing down the internet when theres a test going on). Still though, I don't think the majority of teachers will be accepting usb-sticks, burned cd's, emails or any other medium for that matter, as far as handing in homework goes. I've only met a very small number of teachers who actually understand what a usb-disk is. I think in most cases you would have to print your stuff out, and then hand it in. Half of my teachers don't even know how to operate itslearning, even though the school has been using it for several years. But really, the main reason to use computers at school is (for me) the ability to write a lot faster than usual, sort my shit out, i.e have control over my stuff. Back when I was writing everything with a god damn pen, I could have a paper in front of me one minute, and loose it the next - never to find it again. Computers enables us to have structure! To keep track of everything. And most importantly, it's something to do when the class you're taking is so mind-boggling boring that you'd kill yourself if you didn't have the ability to chat with people, surf the internet, ssh into your home computer or play games for that matter... you know - stuff to take your mind of all the suicidal thoughts... Stian89 Skrevet 19. august 2007 Del Skrevet 19. august 2007 We're using fronter.com to hand in our assignments. Most teachers at our school knows how to operate it though. I hope we get some young teachers this year. It's great when a teacher becomes a "part of the gang". This happens very rarely with old teachers 9314963 Yeah... old teachers are the worst. I tried taking an IKT class last year, something I figured to be a totally okay subject. Turned out the teacher was long since passed her prime, seeing as she was well into her sixties. So what I ended up with was a 60+ year old female teacher, who was supposed to teach me about computers! It was hell! She didn't know her ass from her elbow, and needless to say she had absolutely NO clue about what the hell she was doing. That completely ruined the entire class for me, and really fucked up what I though was gonna be a relaxing and easy class to take. Obviously, I'm not taking the next level of that class this year. It's sad when the school only has ONE IKT teacher, and it turns out to be 60 year old woman who probably just picked that class at random, to fill out her required class schedule or something. It makes me so angry just thinking about it... Lenke til kommentar

Lucky for me, I've got a bus leaving at approximately 11:40, which fits me pretty good. Edit. I've been thinking about getting myself a car actually, although I'm a little short on liquid assets right now. But seriously, I've had access to borough a car pretty much all summer (while working, anyway), and I gotta say, it really sucks having to go back to the damn bus.
