If you're planning on fishing up there, then make sure to bring mosquito repellent... Loads! This time of year there are hords of them op there. And they grow huge aswell, like friggin bloodsucking birds. I shit you not!

Anywho, i do agree that two weeks in finnmark does sound boring. Although im sure you'll find some ways to kill time. Visiting friends or just being dragged along by the family then?

I'm going fishing in northern Finland soon.

Anyhow. When I was younger my friends in the army up north used to joke that they had to use anti-aircraft on the mosquitos :)

But still they can't beat bad ass horseflies. I remember once I went fishing in Hedmark somewhere. I had on gloves and a mosquito netting hat. But still the horseflies chased me away after about 10 minutes. The little buggers bit me through my three-layer pants. When I got back to the car the whole car was covered with horseflies. They make a really gross sound being crushed by the windshield wipers.

Dragged along by the family. They have no mercy

haha. I doubt there will be any time for fishing, my parents are at the moment so stressed it's fun. Talking at the speed of life and yelling "NOO, NOT IN THAT BAG, IN HERE!" etc. And here I sit infront of the computer, not taking part at all... :D

fruktkake: Instant smell aswell

You can bring an electrical fly killer. It's like a tennis rackert, but in the cords there's electricity. Instant death. :)

You can't be waving around a tessis-racket when your fishing. Unless you have an extra third arm on your back ;-)

I'm 17 years old and is very bad in english. I'm almost proud because I can write this sentence.

Anyway, I will write her because I will say: Good summer! (And because I never again should have English at school... ;) )

Likewise. (You have a good summer too, I mean) :)

He's a post of mine on the ubuntuforums, still with no answers. Does anybody here have any clue as to what I can do?

Hi, Ive been searching around for hours now, trying to figure out to properly set up my quickcam fusion in ubuntu.

After some fiddling, I followed the steps in this post, and then i installed luvcview. When I run luvcveiw, the camera works, it does however not work with any other program such as ekiga etc.

Im trying to use a videochat in flash, ((this sort of thing), flash finds my webcam as "USB Video Class Device", it doesnt give me any picture/video.

Does anybody know what I can try to have this work? I assume you might want to see some more info on my part, but im pretty new to this webcam delio, so please bear with me and tell me if you need any additional info.

Thanks.

Hi guys. My first post in this thread, I think. October the 2nd I'm going to Australia for 1 year. I'm really looking forward to it! Get to know new people, see new places and improve my english. I'm going together with 3 good friends, so I will not be alone. Anyone else here been to Australia? If so, share some words.

Heyyy, that's awesome! I've been to Australia many times, as I'm half Australian. The country is beautiful and the people are really laid back. Way more laid back than people in the USA. I hope you end up in Melbourne...that's my favorite city there :)

I beg to differ. Melbourne is all right, but it stands no chance against Perth, and especially Fremantle. ;)

I think this thread died out sometime long ago.

Not at all. The English Thread is alive and kicking as usual. More versatile than ever varying from small "hello, nice thread" and everyday reports to interesting and infotaining technical discussions (like the recent Lunix talk).
Edit: strange to read and write english in a Norwegian forum

Maybe. Or maybe not. I've search around for other discussions boards for equivalents to this thread, and it seems to be quite common for non English boards to have a dedicated space for their members to write in English.
How's everyone doing? I'm going to leave for two weeks in about 2-3 hours :( West-Finnmark is such a boring place...

I'm leaving for Rhodes (Rhodos) next week. I'm really looking forward to that. Sunny beaches, breaking waves and nice nightlife. Actually the first time I've been to a typical "Sydentur".

Hello, all of you who is reading this thread. I recently read an article, explaining when to use than and when to use then in the English language and I would recommend it for anyone struggling with english grammar. The website also have a lot of other articles covering english grammar.
