There are many of people at Diskusjon that loves to express them self in English.

A lot of people at Diskusjon love to express them selves in English.

Just for the record.

Anyhow this is a good place to learn better English, so I would recommend everybody to actually state what's wrong with a sentence, rather than just saying it's wrong.

Thought it was "at hospital".

Nope. Not in this case. He's implying that the computer is in care of a hospital.

Examples:

My friend works at the hospital

Oh, he's visiting his aunt at the hospital.

George is sick, he's in hospital.

This is why people have trouble learning Norwegian.

It's like when we say:

I banken, men på postkontoret.

If he is on the hospital, he would actually be sitting on the roof. I hope that isn't the case.

If he is at the hospital, he would be on the grounds of the hospital I think. Like maybe only visiting or stopping by.

If he is in the hospital, he would be hospitalized which was the case in our scenario.

I might be wrong, since I haven't studied English for quite a few years so my grammar isn't perfect anymore. But that's what I think.

Edit: You know:)

"The computer is at the hospital" is a perfect sentence, actually. :)

I'll correct English mistakes that look like they desperately need corrections if people want me to...

Just like it's fine with me for people to correct the shit out of my Norwegian in other various sections of the forum, hehe

I'm pretty sure that you are mistaken about that. I've been thinking about this, and if you look at my following statements you'll see why.

1. I'm at school.

2. I'm in school.

1. This does not imply that I study anything, I'm just on the school grounds or in a building which happens to be a school.

2. This implies that I'm actually studying something.

We can use this on the example with a hospital like this.

1. I'm at the hospital.

2. I'm in the hospital.

1. I'm not hospitalized but I'm at a hospital or a hospitals grounds.

2. I'm actually hospitalized.

The computer is at the hospital.

This is, as you said, a perfectly constructed sentence, but it does not mean that the computer is sick and that's the reason why it's at this hospital. I'll say it again, I might be wrong, but if there is any logic to this I'm right. :)

Great example Quayle. Maybe I'l use it somewhere sometime :p who knows...

Well i'm going on vacation. Gonna be away from my computer for 3

weeks in a row *gasp*.

Or not quite, i'l be here one day between the second and the third week.

Anyways, what are people up to at this time a day?

It is, isn't it? Why would you use it, are you an English teacher or something?

Actually I'm at work, and will be the whole summer, except for a week or so. I didn't work for more that 4 months last year so I haven't collected more paid vacation this year. It sucks I tell you.

I just ordered a new server which will replace the ones that are running here now. And since everybody else is on vacation I'll have time to do all the things that I haven't been able to during this whole year. :w00t:

Why I would use it? Hey, i'm no teacher (still 16). And i'm never gonna be it either =P Seems to booring. I guess i'd use it in a text (hva heter

stil på engelsk?) of som kind for school. Like implenting such tings...

Appearantly so do my teachers, because i've got straight 5's on

every piece i've wrote this year.

Sucks for you that you gotta work all summer thou. Well atleast

you earn money. I've worked hard just to be able to work 2 weeks

at a production site for boat controllers. But maybe i'l get som hours

in my uncles shop over at Karmøy. Going there for a week as well...

You are a bit young to be a teacher then. I think that essay is a proper word for what we in Norwegian call "skolestil".

Well I don't earn any more because I work all summer. You see, I'm not payed by the hour, but since I didn't work all year last year, they would deduct the vacation from my salary so I would earn less if I take full vacation this year, and we cant have that! I don't know how to easily explain "feriepenger" except for paid vacation.

A quick question, is it because you are lazy or is it because you don't know it that you don't write I with a capital i? I hope you know that "i've" should be "I've". :)
