At an english e-learning site I read the following:

"For a long time different units of measurement such as ell, foot, fathom and inch existed side by side. When in the 18th century international trade increased, the necessity to use uniform and reproduceable units of measurement became inevitable."

It got me thinking of the following next big event in human history. Let's change the text a bit to suit a whole different purpose:

"For a long time different languages such as French, Norwegian and German existed side by side. When in the 21th century international trade increased, the necessity to use uniform and reproduceable languages became inevitable."

...So we inevitabilly decided to uniform multilingual communication with one standard: The English Language, and supress other standards, officially.

What about that?

I'm having my midterm test of this semester tomorrow.

And the theme is based on clashes.

There are two tasks. The first task is compulsory stuck to one theme, while the last one has some choices.

The first task:

You will be given two tasks that focus on the theme "Clashes"

To prepare for your first task, study and reflect upon:

"It Was an Order"

from the film "Downfall".

To whatch the movie, click HERE.

Any ideas of what I can write about within this?

I know what the movie says, but I can't really figure out what i can reflect and write about.

I do not know the term "clashes" would you explain it to me?

But back to your question. Just look at the differences between Hitler and the officers around him. Hitler is persistent and angry, why? The people outside the room are afraid, why? Will Hitler hurt them? Will they lose the war? Is their leader loosing his mind?

The term clashes can be transelated as Kollisjon/konflikt/meningskonflikt.

It's a thing where you can take one thing, and compare it to the opposite.

So it "clashes" with each other, it doesn't fit. There's a difference, and opinions to go with it.

A bit hard to explain..

Uhm maybe I can ask a question about the general election in Britain. In my textbook it says that "Parties with strong support within a geograpichal area have a much better chance of winning constituensies than those with scattered support, even though these parties may attract comparable numbers of voters on a national basis" Why is it this way?

Because in England, there is one mandate for each county (or what ever they divide their country in), and the party with the most votes in that county gets the mandate.

Hey, I wanna be a part of this :)

I`ve got a question! I`ve never really understood the rules of baseball. I know they are supposed to hit the ball and then run around the circle, but can they also get points for running from just one base to another? In that case, how many points?

Hope someone can explain this, and tell me about some other rules that exist. I guess there are some more..!

Thanks :)
