Gjest Slettet+13412342564 Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 18. januar 2010 (endret) Good evening, guys. My English teacher keeps saying that I have to speak formal English during an oral presentation. You know, not using contracted forms etc. Just doesn't sound right to me. I mean, I'm not talking any different when I'm having a Norwegian presentation... What do you guys think? Endret 18. januar 2010 av Slettet+13412342564 Lenke til kommentar
Mikkel™ Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Stick to what your teacher is saying . I know i had almost the same problem but i asked for conversations with him during classes (mostly because he though i was way pass the rest of the class ... ). Lenke til kommentar
Gjest Slettet+13412342564 Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Yeah, I was like that last year. I got an "A" without doing a single piece of homework But 2nd grade is definitely tougher than I expected. Lenke til kommentar

It is all about maximizing your outcome yet performing under a set of rules given by some one else. Not unlike modern gaming. The teacher set the rules, you give your best performance bounded by those rules. Endret 18. januar 2010 av Lidskjalv Lenke til kommentar
Bear^ Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Rules set under illogical circumstances however aren't rules but miss use of power given to the person with the authority to uphold the rules. Teachers are in many ways a dictator, they have the power over the class, they make the rules. And they make the punishment if you do not obey the rules they have more or less created. In the end they are ruling over you. Sure they have rules applied to them as well but in the end, who decide if you've passed, or failed, a course? And as with all tyrannies they have to come to an end by the actions of the few. Summing up my statement I say; talk as you feel like talking and if the teacher asks for another form of speech then ask a reason for it. Lenke til kommentar
Gjest Slettet-v6cLnSOv3V Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 18. januar 2010 Had a english oral exam last year, and got the grade 6 (A). Stuck completely to a formal langugage, and got the full score even though I did call my teacher a dictator! It's just a matter of practicing on the pronounciations and the setup of the sentences. Good luck! Lenke til kommentar

Bear^ Skrevet 26. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 26. januar 2010 Elk? Elg? Moose? I like that type of meat (the wildly; ferociously kind). We had some moose meat cakes at work here before, as a daily dish, and I used to eat it as often as I could afford to buy it. Some of those, a thick cream based sauce with mashed potatoes and mountain cranberry at the side. Lovely. Lenke til kommentar
Slimda Skrevet 26. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 26. januar 2010 When I had the english oral exam, they couldn't give me a 6 as grade. Simply because I didn't know squat about the thing we were supposed to talk about. But I did get a strong 5, based solely on my ability to speak and hold a conversation in english. I felt rather proud at that. Lenke til kommentar
Bear^ Skrevet 26. januar 2010 Del Skrevet 26. januar 2010 That's good, very good I nearly flunked my oral English exam because I got a couple of teachers that were more interested in what I knew about England and gave a dam about the spoken English. Their own English was at the "Peter Solberg" English, so I spoke quite good (they told me) but because of my lack of knowledge about everything that stood in the books they nearly flunked me. I'm glad I'm done with schools and everything, dam I hated it. Lenke til kommentar
