As you probably know, people in Norway and most other European country have freedom of speech. However, this freedom of speech doesn’t seem to apply to Mohammed and other religious front figures. If you say something bad about them you are accused for blasphemy, right? For example, if you make a drawing or a picture of the prophet Mohammed you could get a fine. It isn’t allowed because it says so in the Koran. I accept that, but I still think that it should be allowed to make caricature drawings of him. How are we supposed to live if all holy things are to be taken deadly serious? At least I could never join a religion that is deadly serious, and never jokes with their gods. For example I would never have confirmation in the church if they wouldn’t allow caricature drawings of Jesus and God. It would just be too dead-serious for me. I got to have a humoristic side of things, if not I would be crazy! A good example for this is politics; the most focused Norwegian politicians get a caricature drawing of them self in a big newspaper as Aftenposten, Dagbladet or VG. The drawings are always criticizing the way they behave, and what they stand for. Do they react the same way as the extreme Muslims? Luckily not, they are far more liberal than some of the conservative Muslims. As late as last night, I created a thread in a discussion forum called Diskusjon.no. That forum is the biggest in Norway with 80.000+ users. The thread was called “Mohammed LOL tråden” and was a copy of a very popular thread called “Jesus LOL tråden”. You were supposed to post images of Mohammed when he was doing stupid things and you set text to it such as “Mohammed is gay, LOL!” when Mohammed was kissing someone’s hand. The Mohammed thread was closed immediately, while the Jesus thread its still living its best days. Even though the drawings of Jesus were much more blasphemous than the drawings of Mohammed. Why are comics of Mohammed more blasphemous than comics of Jesus? There are a lot of Christians who would kill the artist just because they drew such a comic. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing that should be kept for ever and ever. And yes, to make pictures of Mohammed is a test of limits, but I think we should decide one for all if it’s legal to create and publish drawings of the prophet Mohammed. At least I will continue to draw and publish drawings of him, and several friends of mine will do the same. We aren’t doing it to irritate the Muslims, but to raise the right to say, print and publish your meanings. I myself aren’t a religious person at all. I believe that the start of the universe and the world as we know it today was Big Bang. However I do think that some higher power for example a God started the process of Big Bang. In Big Bang matter and anti-matter was created. The same process can be done be humans now, and it’s done by accelerating particles to an extreme speed, and then crash them. I believe God also did the same thing but with another method and in an extremely bigger scale. However, just because I’m not religious doesn’t mean I don’t understand the feelings the Muslims have, I would get angry too, but I wouldn’t go so far as they did during the debate about the Mohammed caricature drawings in the big Danish newspaper “Jyllandsposten”. The debate I will continue is the discussion about how free the Freedom of Speech really is. If the freedom of speech is totally free we should be allowed to publish our drawings, if they are restricted to everything that is non-religious it’s suddenly no freedom of speech anymore. We can’t say what we want. Written by, Bjarte Kvamme Takk for svar Innleveringsoppgave_Natur_Milj_.doc Lenke til kommentar

You were supposed to post images of Mohammed when he was doing stupid things and you set text to it such as “Mohammed is gay, LOL!” when Mohammed was kissing someone’s hand. Haha. At least I will continue to draw and publish drawings of him, and several friends of mine will do the same. We aren’t doing it to irritate the Muslims, but to raise the right to say, print and publish your meanings. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing that should be kept for ever and ever. And yes, to make pictures of Mohammed is a test of limits, but I think we should decide one for all if it’s legal to create and publish drawings of the prophet Mohammed. If the freedom of speech is totally free we should be allowed to publish our drawings, if they are restricted to everything that is non-religious it’s suddenly no freedom of speech anymore. We can’t say what we want. Hvilken klasse du går i forresten?
