We prepared two nearly identical machines. The windows “rig� was based on an AMD “Athlon 64 X2� 2Ghz chip, whereas the Linux machine was based on an Intel “Pentium 4� 2Ghz. We would have liked to test Linux on an Athlon as well, however AMD would not provide us with a Linux driver CD; In any case both of these chips were approximately equal in power because the Intel chip had has “Hyperthreading�.
