Sideveklslingsfil, hva er det for noe?

Hei, jeg lurte på noe angånede sidevekslingsfil eller virtuelt minne som det heter.

 

hos meg står det angitt til 1536 mens anbefalt står på 1534.

 

jeg har satt opp til 1540, kan det øke ytelsen til spill men er det ikke så at det er minne som windows bruker.

 

kan jeg decrease det mye eller bør det være angitt det som anbefales?

Bare la den være slik den er. Du vil ikke merke noe forskjell i det hele tatt om du endrer den så lite. Man bør ha den på rundt 1,5*mengde minne man har.

Note that the common advice about the pagefile being 1.5 x RAM or some other multiple is not intuitively

correct. Consider the situation where you only have 128MB of RAM: setting the maximum pagefile size to

1.5 x 128MB = a 192MB pagefile, which when combined with your 128MB of system RAM gives Windows

only 320MB of total available memory for Windows XP which is obviously not anywhere near enough

memory for modern games and applications. In effect it is about how much total memory (RAM + Pagefile)

that should be made available for Windows to operate efficiently.

 

EDIT:

For most people however accurately working out which is the most memory intensive application or game,

and more importantly predicting the amount of memory future software will require is tedious if not

impossible. Therefore I provide a simple general recommendation which is both safe to use on all systems,

regardless of how much RAM you have, and provides good performance:

Set the Initial and Maximum pagefile sizes to 2560MB each ‐ i.e. allocate 2.5GB for the pagefile.

This may seem like quite a lot, but the reason for this is that recent games now require a lot more real and

virtual memory to function correctly, even if you have 2GB of RAM. Having a larger pagefile size does not

hurt performance as such; it only takes up a bit of additional disk space. So on balance my recommendation

is to play it safe.
