Skjermkort for htpc med VMR9-støtte

Ok. Jeg må ha nytt skjermkort til min htpc. Den skal ikke spilles på (annet enn emulatorer ) så jeg trenger ikke mye, men jeg må ha nok til at den kan kjøre VMR9.

For VMR9 display a DirectX 8 level card will work fine (with some CPU fallback), but for the advanced filtering and deinterlacing a fully DirectX 9 compliant 3D graphics card is needed for acceptable performance (as VMR9 uses the pixel shaders to perform all the advanced filtering in hardware). VMR9 is the future of video rendering in Windows. Windows XP MCE 2005 uses VMR9 exclusively and Longhorn (the generation of Windows) will build on VMR9.

 

In the ATI world VMR9 rendering suffers on video cards below a Radeon 9600XT level. NVIDIA, on the other hand, has been optimizing for VMR9 since the GeForce FX series. For using VMR9 on a standard definition TV a GeForce FX 5200 will suffice. If you want to use the higher resolution display of a HDTV a GeForce 5700 or higher is optimal.

With the GeForce 6x00 series NVIDIA has redone their video processing engine into a flexable multi-format decoding unit that is optimized for VMR9 called "PureVideo", so a GeForce 6x00 card is the top choice for VMR9 rendering.

 

Alle skjermkort av nyere dato kan kjøre VMR9, men som sitatet over sier er noen bedre enn andre. Og det korte du har plukket ut er ikke blandt de. Men som sagt, det vil ikke stoppe PCen din fra å vise VMR9 filer, den vil bare bruke mer av CPUen din.
