There is no comparison between the PC1000 and the HC90. The HC90 whips it hands down. Yes, the PC1000 is a nice accomplishment, given that it is a CMOS based camcorder. But really, I am buying a camcorder for purposes of my own use and value, not to say I have the first implementation of CMOS 3 CCD that was adequate. Don't believe all the hype on 3 CCD. Yes, they can perform better, but in the sub $1,200 category they often do not by default of the technology itself. Otherwise, why would the PC350 with one CCD be just as good in picture quality as the famed PV-GS400? The reality is that 3 chip CCD above $1,500 price point is more of a differentiator than in the sub $1,000 cameras where they often are not any better and sometimes worse than the best implementations of high horsepower (i.e. big) CCDs with good processing (i.e. PC350 and HC90). I have tested these cameras, the PC1000 is ok in color saturation and low light....>BUT< very weak when compared to the HC90. It also does a much poorer implementation of the 16:9 then the HC90...which has the best 16:9 of standard def cameras (with the caveat that the new Canon's might have finally gotten it right). WHy, because the HC90 has a big CCD vs. the others which allow them to crop the top and bottom, still use the wide aspect ratio even with the EIS kicked in and working.....you gotta have CCD real estate to spare to do that......a smaller 3 chip solution like the PC1000 can not do that and will require OIS in order to get a better 16:9 management. Anyway, the only knock on the HC90 has been that it doesn't have all the manual bells an whistles....but how many people in this price point find a need for that control more than 2% of the time......I bet it is less than 3% of users...... OscarX knows what he is talking about and has the most fair assessment of this HC90 to date.
