UDMA Problem under XP

Anbefalte innlegg

I just had the problem that suddendly my primary master drive was only recognized in PIO mode under XP Pro.

I did a little search and found this:

The driver has a nasty habit of falling to PIO and staying there.

Open REGEDIT, find the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}00x

Last four digits are likely 0001, 0002. Under those keys you will find

MasterIdDataChecksum, SlaveIdDataChecksum.

Delete the value corresponding to your drive. It will make the

OS to redetect the device DMA capabilities after reboot.

OR:

I just went to the device manager and uninstalled the problematic

channel and rebooted. Upon reboot Windows detected correctly and is now

showing up as UDMA mode 5.
