It seems he's been burning fully functional DVD's with his CD-R drive. Here's the info: He's got a Yamaha CD-R and a DVD-ROM (reader, not writer) in his PC. He uses the newest Nero (with DVD-copy enabled in "expert mode" settings). When the wizard comes up, he chooses to copy the DVD from the DVD reader to the CD-R writer. He uses standard blank DVD-R's in his CD-R drive, and starts burning. He has told me that there have been NO problems getting his CD-R dirve to copy a DVD onto DVD-R media!! This is not DIVX or VCD we're talking about, it's actually using your CD-R drive to write as a DVD-R drive!! I will post more as more info comes out about this."
HagEnuK Skrevet 27. november 2001 Del Skrevet 27. november 2001 inssane used our newssubmit to tell us about something that might change the future. This is an article in a big Belgium Newspaper, so it should really be true. It's about a new invention that is able to put 20 DVD movies on 1 CD-ROM. Someone scanned the article that can be found here. It is however in Dutch, so I will summarize it a little for our non Dutch reading visitors: Defosse, a Belgian inventor has developed DGS (Defosse Digital System) a digital language that makes it possible to edit images, movies and music at such a way that it is possible to store it at a much more efficient way. Defosse has demonstrated some of the possibilities to the newspaper and the newspaper was not able to see anything that could make the demonstration fake. One of the things he demonstrated was zooming on to a picture, nowadays not possible to zoom in about 2000 times without having a very big quality loss, DGS is able to do this thousands of times without quality loss and the file is even just about 19 MB, Defosse says that it is even possible to bring this down to 500k. He also demonstrated a DVD movie of which he has brought down the filesize to 30 MB, so you can fit 20 DVD movies on 1 CD-R ! He was also able to put a 8 minute movie of the WTC disaster on 1 single floppydisk just using Windows Media player. With an own DGS mediaplayer he would be able to put 30 minutes of full screen television on a floppy. Unfortunately the article does not explain how the technology works, but if this is true, it is a big invention. I remember some time ago also a Dutch inventor said he was able to do this, but he and his work mysteriously dissapeared. hmmm ja. hadde vert no det! Lenke til kommentar
