Where I called the GeForce 7800 GTX a powerhouse, I name the series 7800 GT cards an inspiration as it offers more performance over the past high-end Series 6 product yet is really close to the performance of the 7800 GTX. Shader performance was increased in a very sizable amount due to some new GPU optimizations

Also allow me to give a round of applause for keeping the single slot design cooling which was reintroduced with the GTX, it is silent and working efficiently. Other rather important items. We've had absolutely no stability issues or incompatibility with any of the cards.

Looking back at the performance and image quality we experienced on the BFGTech GeForce 7800 GT OC, we are left with a big smile on our faces. With the Geforce 7800GT's arrival, it brings new heights to people yearning to spend on a graphics card, but not willing to blow their monthly salaries on it. The performance of this card seems to be pretty close to the Geforce 7800 GTX, dispite having lesser Pixel / Vertex pipelines, and a lower clock speed. This comes exciting, as users who are adventurous might even sought to unlock the disabled hidden pipelines, with help of a newer version of Rivatuner software.

The only video card we tested to have a clear performance advantage over the new GeForce 7800 GT was NVIDIA's own flagship GeForce 7800 GTX. ATI's current top-of-the-line Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition ran right alongside the GeForce 7800 GT in a handful of tests, like FarCry and Half Life 2 for example, but in games like Doom 3 and The Chronicles of Riddick the 7800 GT had a huge advantage in performance over the Radeons.

XFX's GeForce 7800 GT gets the nod from us - the aesthetics need to be worked on over the coming weeks, so that it looks like it's not just rolled up from NVIDIA's factory. On the performance side, we cannot fault this card in the slightest - in fact, you can't fault either card in that respect - they force a rather large bag of nails in to the coffin of the Radeon X850 XT PE with its current asking price. ATI have nothing to do but lower the price of their current-flagship video card in order to remain competitive on price with the GeForce 6800 series.
