Dream Theater uten LaBrie er litt... spesielt. Du har jo Liquid Tension Experiment, Liquid Trio Experiment og lignende sideprosjekt. Det er det eneste jeg kan foreslå.

Og hvis du BARE liker Labrie av en eller annen grunn, har han både gjestesunget på haugevis av plater og gitt ut soloskiver som Mullmuzzler.

 

På Ayreons "The Human Equation" er Labrie hovedvokalist, det er en konseptplate med masse kjente vokalister.

Ikke noe med Dream Theater og gjøre, men jeg tipper Ayreon vil falle i smak for de fleste Dream Theater fans. Labrie er også vokalist på albumet The Human Equation.

The Human Equation er helt absurd bra. 01011001 (binærkode for "y") er også ok for det beste, men holder ikke samme nivå. Anbefales uansett sterkt.

The Watch? Trodde det var bare The Musical Box som gjorde oldschool genesis-konserter. Dem så jeg for noen år siden i Oslo Konserthus, har aldri hørt noe fetere.

Må få med meg en slik konsert hvor Selling England by the Pound fremføres en gang. The Watch hørtes jo fantastisk ut, med unntakk av vokalisten, som virket som han prøvde for hardt.

Jeg så The Musical Box for noen år siden og var virkelig en stor opplevelse det også, men stemningen og magien The Watch klarte å få til var helt unik.

 

Kan være enig at det kan virke som vokalisten i The Watch prøver litt for hardt noen ganger, men alt i alt gjorde han en god jobb.

 

Kan nevne at The Musical Box skal fremføre hele The Lambs Lies Down On Broadway 8. Februar på folketeateret. The Watch kommer også tilbake til John Dee om 1 år.

Progressive rock fra Finland. Sideprosjektet til Peter Vicar, bedre kjent fra Reverend Bizarre. Og med seg på laget har han bl.a. Jari Pohjonen på trommer og gjestevokalist Albert Witchfinder, begge bedre kjent fra Reverend Bizarre. Så hele Reverend Bizarre var med på å spille inn The Conjuration by the Fire, samt noen andre folk. Flott album! 9/10

 

The band plays dark progressive rock in the vein of Van der Graaf Generator, Black Widow, King Crimson, Gabriel-era Genesis, Pink Floyd… The first album, “The Conjuration by the Fire” came out from Italian label Black Widow Records in late 2006.

FATES WARNING/OSI guitarist Jim Matheos and former FATES WARNING singer John Arch are currently working together on a new full-length album, "Sympathetic Resonance", that will be released in North America on September 13 via Metal Blade Records. The band, called ARCH/MATHEOS, began tracking the drums on January 12 and continued to record through mid-February with both John Arch and Jim Matheos producing the album.

 

ARCH/MATHEOS features an all-star lineup, including the talents of Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, ANTHRAX, FATES WARNING, SEVEN WITCHES) on bass, Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, FATES WARNING, SEBASTIAN BACH, RIOT) on drums, and Frank Aresti (FATES WARNING) on additional lead guitar.

 

Comments Matheos: "I think John and I work really well together. There's a lot of mutual respect and trust in what we do. But we're also both very critical of ourselves, and each other. This can make for a long and sometimes tedious process. But ultimately it's one I enjoy because I think it brings out the best in both of us."

 

Adds Arch: "When I first heard some of the arrangements Jim had written and recorded, it took quite some time before I could wrap my mind around the odd time signatures and guitar work going on here. There are some long compositions, so putting anxiety and apprehension on the back burner it was time to dissect these numbers into digestible bits. After the lengthy process of lyrics and melodies, listening to the songs now, I can't imagine them any other way."

 

In terms of the lyrical content on "Sympathetic Resonance", John Arch notes that "the lyrics this time around are more in line with [Arch's 2003 solo EP] 'A Twist Of Fate' and not of the mystical nature of some past albums."

Arch's solo EP, "A Twist Of Fate", was released in 2003 through Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at the Carriage House studios in Stamford, Connecticut and featured guest appearances by Matheos, ex-DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy and Vera.

 

Progressive metallers FATES WARNING will play a handful of shows in Europe this summer, including a support slot at DREAM THEATER's August 2 concert at Terra Vibe in Athens, Greece.

 

Commented guitarist Jim Matheos: "We're looking forward to playing in Europe again this summer, particularly Headbangers Open Air in Germany and, of course, returning to Greece for shows in Athens and Larissa. These will most likely be our last shows before beginning work on a new FATES WARNING [album] for 2012, so we hope to see a lot of you there."

The "Parallels" lineup of FATES WARNING played a number of shows in 2010 in support of the recently released special edition of the album, which was made available through Metal Blade Records. In addition to remastered audio, there is a second audio disc of live and demo material. The package also includes a DVD with nearly three hours of material, including a complete live show from the 1992 "Parallels" tour and a documentary on the making of "Parallels" which includes live, studio, and current day interview footage with all the band members, Terry Brown (producer) and Brian Slagel (CEO of Metal Blade Records).

 

InsideOut Music in 2005 released a FATES WARNING DVD entitled "Live In Athens". The DVD shot was on February 20, 2005 at Gagarin in Athens, Greece and was mixed by Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM).

 

FATES WARNING's latest CD, "X", was released in 2004 on Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2000's "Disconnected" was recorded at Carriage House studios in Stamford, Connecticut and features cover artwork by renowned record-cover artist Ioannis (DREAM THEATER, SEPULTURA, DEEP PURPLE, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, KING CRIMSON, BIOHAZARD, VOIVOD, UFO, OVERKILL).
