bkak Skrevet 3. august 2005 Del Skrevet 3. august 2005 Hei. I've been working with a old Pentium 3 for a server project, and I added a DWL-122 to avoid cables as tripwires throughout the building. The problems began when I tried to configure the adapter: 1) I started by adding linux-wlan-ng. The D-link DWL-122 uses a Prism 2 chipset, and as far as I know, this is the only alternative. 2) I added alias wlan0 prism2_usb to /etc/modules.d/alias (might have been modprobe.d, anyhow it was by the book as for 2.6.x kernels) 3) I configured the wlan according to the README for linux-wlan-ng: Added a configuration file for my own network, and so on. The problem comes when I try to initiate the /etc/init.d/wlan script - kernel panic with "Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt". As in any proper catastrophic malfunction, I'm forced to reboot. Any suggestions? I'm running the latest kernel in portage (2.6.12) as well as the masked linux-wlan-ng (the stable one supposedly isn't willing to play along with anything but the 2.4.x-kernels). The computer has a P3 coppermine clocked at 800 mhz, 256mb ram and so on - nothing that should be relevant to said problems there The D-link DWL-122 is not faulty, as I've used it with my iBook before. Any suggestions would be most appreciated - although I've been an *nix-user for the last few years, setup of wlan is pretty new to me Takk for hjelp. Lenke til kommentar

Silvester Skrevet 4. august 2005 Del Skrevet 4. august 2005 (endret) Jeg vil ha noe av det du har røyka, iv3rs. Orinoco driver : One driver, 3 hardwares...The Orinoco driver support 3 hardware which are very closely related but slightly different : * Lucent/Agere Orinoco Pcmcia cards and Apple Airport (howto) * Intersil PrismII Pcmcia/PLX/PCI cards (howto) * Symbol Spectrum24 HR Pcmcia cards (howto) If you look in the Wireless Howto, you will find that each of these hardware have other drivers available. For the Orinoco, we list those drivers in the previous section. For PrismII, there are the famous linux-wlan-ng and HostAP drivers, which have advantages over this driver. Because Orinoco support all those hardware, people think they are the same hardware. However, all those other drivers support only one of these hardware, and only the Orinoco driver support all three of them. At boot, the Orinoco driver will print in the message logs which of the three hardware it has detected, with the firmware version number. Moyner: modprobe prism2_usb wlanctl-ng lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable wlanctl-ng lnxreq_autojoin ssid="<nettverk uten wep>" authtype=opensystem Se om det der krasjer.
