shapecfg:

The traffic shaper for Linux configures a virtual interface, for which all

outgoing packets are shaped. This means that you may set parameters and

limits on outgoing network traffic. Incoming traffic may not be limited or

shaped using this utility. See /usr/share/doc/shapecfg/README.shapecfg.gz for

instructions.

 

shapecfg for Debian was ported from Red Hat's utility of the same name

 

shaper:

This init script sets up traffic shaping using Linux's class-based queueing.

This can be used to build smart bandwidth shapers which understand TCP/IP.

See /usr/share/doc/shaper/README.shaper.gz for more details.

 

The kernel support needed to use either of these facilities is described in

README.Debian.

trickle:

Trickle is a voluntary, cooperative bandwidth shaper. it works

entirely in userland and is very easy to use.

 

The most simple application is to limit the bandwidth usage of programs.

 

 

 

og wondershaper:

An easy to use traffic shaping script that provides these improvements:

* Low latency for interactive traffic (and pings) at all times

* Allow websurfing at reasonable speeds while uploading / downloading

* Make sure uploads don't hurt downloads

* Make sure downloads don't hurt uploads

 

It does this by:

* Limiting upload speed slightly, to eliminate queues

* Limiting download speed, while allowing bursts, to eliminate queues

* Interactive traffic skips the queue

* ACKs and tiny packets skip the queue

 

Configuring the wondershaper requires you to accurately and precisely

determine your consistent upload and download speeds.

 

The wondershaper is the simplest, easiest to use, entry level, traffic

shaping script provided by Debian.

 

After installing this package, read highly the detailed instructions:

Jepp.. wondershaper er igrunn ikke mer enn noen kontroll scripts for tc og sånt.. men det gjør det mye lettere å sette opp traffic shaping...
