Disse tallene er jo litt artige da: Overførte samme iso fil størrelse 3.16gig, fra WHS til Vista to ganger, og det tok hhv. 2.43 og 2.44 min.Så gjorde jeg det samme, men denne gangen lot jeg Vista spille av en mp3 fil(den er rippet i linux, så ingen DRM). Tiden nå; 5.30 og 5.35 min.

 

Samme filen fra linux til linux med scp tok 1.55 min.

Kablene som går i veggene er heller ikke lette å bytte ut, men de er heldigvis cat 5e. Resterende kabler er cat 5 fra server til switch 1, switch 1 til veggkontakt, og fra stasjonær til switch 2, og switch 2til veggkontakt (vegg-kabelen går mellom switch 1 og switch 2). Ganske lange er de også, så blir vel borti 20-30m med cat 5.

 

Enig i at det kunne vært interessant å se om det ville blitt noen forskjell med bedre kabler.. mulig jeg kjøper noen etterhvert. Men syns igrunn ytelsen er grei nok.

Hvordan har overføringshastigheten blitt målt?

 

Ganske enkelt.. på de testene hvor jeg har kopiert fra lokal disk til server, har jeg brukt rsync (men ikke rsync-protokollen) til en samba-mount, nfs-mount og sshfs-mount. rsync -v gir en fin summary hvor overføringshastigheten står.

 

På testene hvor jeg leser fra server til klient har jeg brukt pipemeter.

 

F.eks:

cat /nfsshare/storfilpå1GB | pipemeter > /dev/null

 

Den viser hastigheten underveis, og total hastighet tilslutt.

 

Brukte pipemeter også andre veien, mest for å se om jeg fikk like tall som de fra rsync.. og de stemte så og si på en prikk.

 

Edit: Tallene på FTP-testen er tatt fra ftp-klienten (lftp).

Hadde noe problemer med nettet på det nye hovedkortet jeg kjøpte meg, sendte det inn til komplett og de hadde stress-testa det i 16 timer og det var OK,

 

jeg har testet samme problemet med 3 andre PC-er i huset så problemet ligger ikke i nettverket.

(nettet er ustabilt ellers men ser på der jeg ikke engang når host. (funker på 3 andre PC-er, 2 andre switcher og x antall andre nettverks-kabler.)

aMSN er jo det beste som har hendt meg omtrent da!

Så lenge de fortsetter det prosjektet der, vil jeg aldri bruke noen andre msn-klienter noen gang=)

Man kan tusle med alt, plugins er enkle å gjøre småmodifikasjoner på, smily-ene ser ikke ut som de er fra 90-tallet heller:)

Så jeg har gått over til pidgin, men noen som veit om det går an å få til støtte for "personal message" med en plugin e.l.?

Støtte for personal message kommer, den ligger i en nyere utvidelse av MSN-protokollen som de arbeider med å få inn i Pidgin nå (i følge dem selv).
