It's undeniable that DDR2 is going to scale very well in the future. But due to increased latency, DDR2-533 memory is barely faster than DDR-400 memory.

 

The first generation DDR2 modules are already capable of running 675MHz without breaking a sweat, there's no question that DDR2 will completely overshadow DDR in the future, especially when AMD starts switching to DDR2.
