mIRC guide for nybegynnere [En del bilder]

Har snekra sammen en guide for å komme i gang med mIRC, IRC og slikt.

 

Del 1, innstalasjonen

 

Første du gjør er å hente ned mIRC herfra: http://www.mirc.com/get.html , denne guide er skrevet for mIRC 6.16

Når du starter installasjonen vil det se ca. slikt ut:

 

 

Hvis du ser under "Install options" står det:

 

Backup existing mIRC files, denne haken velger jeg å fjerne, fordi vi skal sette opp mIRC helt fra grunnen av.

Keep current mIRC setting, gjelder hvis du har mIRC fra før, men nok en gang fjerner vi haken

Create shortcut icons, dette betyr selvfølgelig snarveier, dette velger du selv.

 

Kjør innstallasjonen og start mIRC.

 

Del 2, mIRC konfigurasjon

 

Når du starter mIRC vil det komme opp et lite vindu, jeg har registrert mirc, og får derfor ikke dette vinduet, men det ser omtrent slik ut:

 

 

Der skal det stå noe med "Continue", bare trykk der slik at vinduet forsvinner.

Da vil det se omtrent slik ut:

 

 

Her er en liten forklaring over hva ting er.

 

Da skal vi sette opp mIRC slik vi ønsker det. Velg "Options"

 

 

Jeg velger å hoppe over de innstillingene jeg mener er irrelevante, i tillegg hopper jeg litt fram og tilbake i Options, bare å følge med

Da setter vi i gang.

 

*Connect

 

Konsentrerer oss om de fire første feltene akkurat nå.

Full name: Altså ditt navn, det vil bli synlig for alle andre, så du får velge selv om du velger å oppgi det. - Tor Gunnar

Email Adress: Ikke noe poeng å skrive din riktige email, finn på noe tull. - [email protected]

Nickname: Ditt kallenavn, kort og godt. - Torgun

Alternative: Hvis "Nickname" er opptatt på serveren du kobler til benyttes dette. - Torgun1

 

*Connect -> Options

 

 

Connect on startup: Kobler til den valgte serveren automatisk når du starter mIRC.

Reconnect on disconnetion: Hvis du mister tilkoblingen til serveren vil du prøve å koble til igjen automatisk.

Pop up connect dialog on startup: Denne åpner Connect options når du starter mIRC, unødvendig hvis du har valgt "Connect on startup".

Move to top of list on connect: Aner ikke, men la stå

 

*IRC

 

 

Velger å ta dette rett fra irc, også kan du heller spørre om du ikke skjønner hva det betyr eller vil ha mer informasjon.

Prefix own messages [Anbefales]

If this is selected, your nickname will prefix any messages you type in a channel/query/chat.

 

Show mode prefix [Anbefales]

If turned on, mIRC will prefix nicknames in channel messages with their .@%+ mode on a channel.

 

Iconify query window [Anbefales]

If someone sends you a query, the default is for the query window to open, ready for input. You can select this option to force mIRC to iconify the window preventing it from taking the focus from the window you are currently in.

 

Use single message window [Frarådes]

This directs all private messages or notices from other users to one single message window. You will need to use the /msg command to reply. If you want to open a query window to a user, use the /query window.

 

Note: You can press the Tab key while in the message window to cycle through the list of nicknames who have recently messaged you.

 

Use query for notify nicks [Anbefales]

If the single message window option is enabled, and a user who is in your notify list messages you, mIRC will open a query for that nickname, over-riding the single message window option.

 

Copy messages to query [Anbefales]

If you're talking to a user in the single message window and then decide to open a /query to the user, this copies the conversation you've had so far from the single message window to the query window.

 

Whois on query [Anbefales]

Select this to have mIRC do a /whois nickname on any person that sends you a private message. The /whois will be done the first time the query window is opened.

 

Auto-join channel on invite [Frarådes]

This will make you automatically join a channel when you are invited to it. mIRC will also try to minimize the window, however this might not always work.

 

Rejoin channel when kicked [Frarådes]

If you are kicked from a channel, mIRC will immediately try to rejoin the same channel. It won't close the channel window unless it finds that you can't rejoin the channel.

 

Rejoin channels on connect [Anbefales]

If this switch is turned on, mIRC will automatically rejoin channel windows which are open when you reconnect to an IRC server after being disconnected.

 

Keep channels open [Frarådes]

This will keep a channel window open even if you are disconnected from the server, or kicked from a channel.

 

Hide channel key [Anbefales]

If this is turned on, mIRC will not display the channel key in the channel window titlebar.

 

Show invites in active window [Anbefales]

If this setting is turned off then invite messages will appear in the status window.

 

Show queries in active window [Frarådes]

Shows all queries in the active channel window instead of opening up a query window. However, if you are not in a channel window, a query window will be opened.

 

Show notices in active window [Frarådes]

Shows all notices in the active window instead of in the status window.

 

Show whois in active window [Frarådes]

Shows /whois results in the channel, query/chat, or custom windows if it is turned on and if a /whois is issued inside one of these windows, otherwise all /whois results are shown in the status window.

 

Show Ctcps in active window [Frarådes]

Shows all Ctcp messages in the active window instead of the status window.

 

Show Away in active window [Frarådes]

If you have a query window open to a user, their away message will be displayed in the query window if this option is enabled, otherwise it will be displayed in the status window.

 

Poenget med alle "Show <handling> in active window" er at du kan velge om ting skal vises i det vinduet du benytter, eller i statusvinduet.

 

*IRC -> Options

 

 

Show short joins/parts [Anbefales]

Checking this option makes mIRC display the join and part messages in a different, more compact format.

 

Show user addresses [Frarådes]

Whenever a user joins/parts/quits/is kicked/etc. from a channel, you can choose to see their address by selecting this option.

 

Show nicks on join [Frarådes]

Displays channel nicknames in the status window when you first join a channel.

 

Flash on... [Anbefales på query messages]

These switches set the default flash option for any new channel or query messages that open.

 

Skip MOTD on connect [Frarådes]

This makes mIRC hide any MOTD information which the server sends you when you first connect to it.

 

Hide ping? pong! event [Frarådes]

This hides the Ping? Pong! messages that mIRC shows in the status window whenever a server sends pings to your mIRC to check whether the connection is still active.

 

Cancel away on message [Frarådes]

If you set yourself as away, using /away <text>, selecting this option cancels the away option automatically if you send a message to a channel or a query/chat window.

Hvis du vil ha tidpunktet på alt som skjer så fyller du ut dette.

Kryss av og fyll inn ruta til høyre. - [HH:nn] , [HH:nn:ss] , (HH:nn) , (HH:nn:ss) eller lignende. "HH - time", "nn - minutt" og "ss - sekund"

 

*Display

 

 

Går kjapt gjennom denne delen og.

 

Show Toolbar [Anbefales]

This option allows you to turn the toolbar on or off.

 

Show Menubar [Anbefales]

This option allows you to turn the menubar on or off. If it is turned off, the menubar will still be accessible via the main mIRC window System Menu.

 

Show Switchbar [Anbefales]

This option turns the switchbar on or off.

 

Fill switchbar [Frarådes]

This option stretches buttons to fill the whole of the switchbar to make them easier to click.

 

Include DCCs [Anbefales]

This option allows you to choose between showing DCC Send/Get windows as buttons in the switchbar or as normal icons.

 

Sort buttons [Anbefales]

If this option is turned on, window buttons are sorted according to type.

 

Always highlight [Anbefales]

Turning this on makes mIRC highlight buttons/icons whenever a new message appears in a window, even if the window is visible.

 

Blink icons [Anbefales]

Blinks the icon in switchbar buttons for query/chat windows if there's a message/highlight event, or a flash event.

 

Position [Anbefaler "Left"]

You can position the switchbar at the top, bottom, left, or right of the main mIRC window.

 

Height and Width [Anbefaler "26x99"]

These allow you to size the switchbar to your preferred height and width.

 

Lines [Anbefaler 1]

This sets the the height of the switchbar to display one or more rows of window icons.

 

Event, Message, Highlight [Anbefaler å la stå]

Whenever a new message is displayed in a channel or query window, mIRC highlights the switchbar icon for that window with the chosen color.

 

Så avslutter jeg denne delen med å vise hvordan mIRC minimeres til "System tray"

På Colors er det bare å prøve seg fram å finne ut hva man liker best.

 

Dette er veldig et veldig enkelt oppsett, man kan gjøre mye mer ut av mIRC, men til førstegangsbrukere og for de som ikke kommer til å bruke programmet så mye er dette mer enn nok.

 

 

Del 3, Koble til

 

Nå har vi satt opp mIRC slik vi vil og skal koble til en server og noen kanaler.

De mest kjente serverene er Quakenet, Efnet og Undernet. Vi bruker Quakenet nå, som eksempel.

Vi har to måter vi kan connecte med, options eller statusvinduet. Her er begge:

Eller /server se.quakenet.org i statusvinduet. Begge gjør det samme uansett. Rett etter at du har gjort dette skal det komme:

etterfulgt av litt venting. Tilslutt vil det komme masse tekst om alt og intet, og da er du connected. Det vil også dukke opp et lite vindu som heter "mIRC favourites", i det vinduet skriver du f.eks. "gamer.no" uten "". Da vil du koble til gamer.no sin kanal på quakenet. Ellers så skriver du "/j #kanal", hvor som helst for å koble til en kanal.

 

Andre store kanaler er

#hw.no @ undernet

#hardware.no @ efnet

 

Men husk at mIRC er mye utforskning, da lærer man mye og kanskje man finner en innstilling som passer bedre for deg. Godt nyttår
