Progress is going well, and here are the current details on the upcoming PSTwo USB HDD product: The format- the utility will be available on a single pressed PS2-compatable disc, similar to the HD Advance and Swap Magic Discs. The utility can be used with any external PC USB HDD on the PSTwo, and will allow end-users to launch games from the drive just as HD Advance currently does from internal hard disk drives on v1-v11 PS2 consoles. The suggested retail price (from the manufacturer) for this exciting upcoming product is set at only $28.99 each. Finally, the estimated time remaining before the product will be ready is only 2-3 weeks! However, this estimate is subject to change should any production issues arise of course. More details to come as they are available!

Posted on Friday, November 12, 2004 @ 11:00:56 GMT by Robert The news coverage on the major console sites about the growing number of failing PStwo's with laser burnouts has been poor, few headlines and facts on a forum level at best. It seems Sony's massproduction of PStwo really made the laser quality poor this time, even worse than V9/V10. The same goes for the lack of hard drive support. The PStwo have no USB 2.0 ports, it is only USB 1.0, which rules out any hdd device in my opinion. Sure, it is theoretically possible to connect a hdd with USB 1.0, but even with a working USB driver the hdd read/write speed would be in the borderland of unusable, slower than CD or DVD. I guess the cover-ups are about fear of loosing money, as usual. The new generation modchips will drop sales when the broad public learn that PStwo make your laser go "puff" (with smoke literally coming out) and bye bye hard drive. Christmas is coming up and the only machine in stock is PStwo. Ho! Ho! Ho! Go figure. I've seen forum posts with important facts vanish, lies spread about tech specs, the usual "blame the other team" bullshit. What happened to good old "information wants to be free"? oppdatering: Nå ble jeg litt i tvil angående usb hastigheten her påstår de at den har 2.0 hastighet http://www.ps2nfo.com/pstwo.html Endret 18. november 2004 av mago Lenke til kommentar
