Grimm and fvkked French Black Metal from this kvlt act... Meyhn'ach, allegedly some sort of dope fiend, pulls out all the stops on this one.

Trade mark misery and melancholy, burning with some sort of skewed mentalism. Interesting lyrics, in sort-of English, I actually like this a lot. There's some pretty odd stuff going on sonically in some of the songs, strange effects and samples.

 

The song Rattenkonig is a take on the Pied Piper fable..."At night a feeble melody of sick complaint pierced the silence".

 

Picture disk, (with dead rats on one side), in a black sleeve with cool fold out book with lyrics.

Keiji Haino/Sitaar Tah! - Animamima CD

Incredible looking and bizarre sounding, once again...

90+ min. live drone event billed as ANIMAMIMA featuring HAINO playing vocals, flute, electric tanbur, rhythum box, electric hurdy gurdy and electric sruthi-box, also playing is the group called SITAAR TAH! which is a 20 piece sitar orchestra, guesting for this one time meeting was FUYUKI YAMAKAWA who plays Igil, and throat singing. based on the instrumentation present i think one can get a pretty good idea of what the sonics are like. The recording quality is really amazing James Plotkin did a fantastic job with mastering duties as always.

The layout features a 120lb dust jacket style, letterpress diecut cover, with an inner 1/2 fold cover saddle stapled to the inside. Letterpres work done by MOONTREEARTS who did the last haino covers as well, the design was done by Stephen OÕMalley. One time pressing of 1000 copies

70+min recording of 8 wandering improvistions for guitar and drums tracked over the course of two days. Content ranges from ambient soundscapes to upbeat almost electric jazz. Probably differs a bit from others releases of this nature as both players have backgrounds in the fine art of heavy music. Plotkin and Wyskida are both members of KHANATE, as well as numerous other projects.

 

Comes in a blue and red cover version one time pressing of 1000 copies.

One of the greatest Black Metal albums of all time in my opinion. The production plays an important part, with some clever twists and turns, the playing is amazing, the feel is one of blasphemic contempt. Lots religious sounding samples, chanting and such, and an incredible last track that brings to mind a moribund gypsy bachanal.

Great artwork is the final seal of greatness. Essential.

All of the surviving VON recordings on one CD - basically both demos and some live stuff from 91, a few photos and the lyrics, which are actually pretty good. Apparently Varg was a fan of this Bay Area horde, and listening to the CD you can tell their influence on a lot of the stuff that's popular now (esp BEHERIT).

Please note: just because they were from the Bay Area, don't expect any solos, more than 2 riffs in a song, or multi-million dollar production. No one in the band owns any Basquiat paintings and they have no plans to release footage of themselves weeping or undergoing psychotherapy.
