Casios mest avanserte kamera har det meste av funksjoner man kan ønske seg, men i et relativt lite format. Klarer det lille kameraet å matche de større konkurrentene?

With Easter just passed, we were surprised to find out that

the EX-P600 has a little egg left in by Casio. One of our readers

informed us that through a combination of button presses, users

are able to access a hidden menu to change various settings, one

of which happens to address our initial grumbles about the

exclusion of RAW file support.

 

Officially, the EX-P600 supports only TIFF (uncompressed) and JPEG

image formats in three compression settings. The resulting

6-megapixel TIFF images are on average about 14MB in size while

unofficial RAW files come in substantially less at 9MB. The

large savings in storage space will allow users to take about

30 percent more images. We hope Casio will be able to release

an updated firmware to add RAW file support into its official

menu system soon.

 

To access a hidden menu enter the test mode function:

 

1. Power off camera

2. While pressing MENU and DISP buttons simultaneously,

turn the camera on. It should display black and white info screen.

3. Release all buttons.

4. Press Right (>)on the joystick TWO or more times.

5. Press MENU button.

 

This 12-point menu will appear:

 

1. VERSION INFO

2. VIDEO OUT

3. USB_TCC_TEST

4. TEST MENU

5. SOUND TEST

6. IMAGE FLAG (here is where the raw mode can be turned on)

7. ROM UPDATE - WARNING - DON'T USE THIS!! - WILL WRECK YOUR CAMERA!!

8. ADJ TEST - WARNING - DON'T USE THIS!! - WILL WRECK YOUR CAMERA!!

9. REC-INFO - enter the service menu in record mode, then this option

will show more details when taking a photo

10. TEST SCRIPT

11. LAST MEMORY

12. FORMAT

 

There are 2 options in the IMAGE FLAG menu:

 

1. BAYER MODE (on, off) - this records raw files

2. C. M. READ (on, off) - ??

 

Notes:

 

When BAYER MODE is on, camera captures a full-size raw image in addition

to whatever image format (TIF, JPG) you have set. The camera stores raw

images in the same folder as JPEGs and gives unique file names which are

derived from corresponding JPEG files, like this: CIMG0075.JPG --> 0075CIMG.RAW.

RAW mode has to be enabled through service menu each time you power on the camera.

Kult. Men uten RAW-behandlingsprogramvare er det jo liten vits i å skyte RAW.

Noen som vet om det er mulig å sette på vidvinkel linse på dette kameraet, det er jo mulig å skru av ringen foran og da er det gjenger der, som sikkert er til sånt.

Har nå funnet ut at det går fint å bruke vidvinkel'linse på dette kameraet, men jeg trenger da en Converter for kameraet, er det noen som vet hvor jeg kan få kjøpt dette?

Den heter:

Casio LU60A Conversion Lens Kit (Includes 2 Adapters) for EX-P600/P700.

 

Helst her til lands, men jeg vet ikke mye om foto, og foto-forretninger/nettbutikker med foto, så hvis noen kunne hjelpe meg med dette hadde det vert fint.

Lette etter disse mellomringene selv (forskjellig for vidvinkel og tele). Fant de dessverre ikke i noe norske nettbutikker, men i diverse utenlandske kostet ca. 35 Euro. Bruk evt. Google å søk på "LU60A". Jeg fikk tak i disse mellomringene i Wien (far var i Wien, innom en helt tilfeldig foto-sjappe). Prøv eventuellt å forhøre deg med en norsk foto-sjappe som selger Casio kameraer om de kan bestille ringene for deg.

Disse linsene virker bra, ikke vesentlig kvalitet eller lys problemer, men vær obs på at med vidvinkellinsa må du bruke ekstern blits da linsa delvis skygger for blitslyset.
