Everything will be restored and fully functional again. This incident will only affect the ones who registered since 6 AM yesterday, and we have a solution for them which means they will have to fill in a special form to get their clan back. More information will follow soon!

Så lenge activity baren er på topp(noe den ikke er på noen av oss) så burde det være hipp som happ hvem som vinner egentlig. :)

Hardware problems on the database server after something blew a fuse.

We are on our way to the co-location to find out more.

We have just returned from our colocation where we found the problem. The fuse in our server rack blew at approximately 9:40 AM. All our machines were restarted and after the restart our main database server had suffered from corrupted data and a whole lot of messages like "Aug 31 10:33:22 artemis kernel: sd(8,17):vs-13070: reiserfs_read_inode2: i/o failure occurred trying to find stat data of [3 3928 0x0 SD]" in the system logs.

 

We ran fsck(1), the command you run to check/repair a Linux file system. This fixed the file system, as well as (unfortunately) deleting the corruped files. What we have now is a file system that works and some files that exist no more. Fortunately we have backups of most of the important data from around 05:00 this morning, so we will be working on restoring as much as possible and we estimate CSM to be back online and functional tommorrow morning.

 

A fuse blowing in the rack is very unusual and an indicator of our luck! Our computers were not the only ones affected though, another machine belonging to another company got its motherboard fried. We were very lucky that we did not get any of our hardware physically damaged though. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, and working hard to get CSM back online!
