morroheter innen FAQ/HowTo's

Anbefalte innlegg

sitter og leser litt How'To's og kommer over det ene gullkornet etter det andre :D

la meg sitere et par gullkort:

This is what you need for any of the RAID levels:

-A kernel. Preferably a kernel from the 2.4 series. Alternatively a 2.0 or 2.2 kernel with the RAID patches applied.

-The RAID tools.

-Patience, Pizza, and your favorite caffeinated beverage.

sjøl kan jeg anbefale Jolt Cola ;)

/dev/md0 is now ready to be formatted, mounted, used and abused.

Q: How do I autorejoin channels after being kicked?

A: That's evil and you shouldn't do it. If you get kicked, you should stay out, at least until the channel forgot you existed :) Most channels I've joined just ban you if you autorejoin after kick. If you're joined to channels who kick people for fun, try changing channels or something.

Anyway, if you REALLY want to do that, and you understand that you're doing evilness, you can use the autorejoin.pl script that comes with irssi. You'll still need to specify the channels you wish to rejoin with /SET autorejoin_channels #chan1 #chan2 ...

Fra irssi FAQ :D

Deadlocks are problematic, but not as bad as data

corruption.  Code which grabs a read lock, searches a list,

fails to find what it wants, drops the read lock, grabs a

write lock and inserts the object has a race condition.

If you don't see why, please stay the fuck away from my code.

Haha, den var bra! Bare for å spamme litt ;) Noen som kan legge til noe på denne, eller er jeg den eneste som er observant? :p

Fra GDM sin hjelp-fil:

Anybody found not using a dedicated user for GDM should be whacked over the head with a large, blunt, heavy and rusty object, although the rusty requirement may be dropped if there is not enough time to have the object develop rust.

Hmm... her ser GDM ut til å kjøre på root (som den må), mens gdmgreeter (gui) kjører på "gdm"

I BeBook, API-dokumentasjonen til BeOS, finst følgjande nyttige funksjonar:

is_computer_on()

int32 is_computer_on(void)

Returns 1 if the computer is on. If the computer isn't on, the value returned by this function is undefined.

is_computer_on_fire()

Fant noe jeg i all fall synes var litt morsomt i natt

http://ldp.linux.no/HOWTO/Mock-Mainframe/background.html

In the last decade of the past millennium, I moved out of my parents' house and into a small apartment with my girlfriend. I left behind not only the comfort of a magically refilling refrigerator, but also a computer network that suddenly had to survive daily and sometimes creative usage by my mom, dad, and kid sister for months without me. After some gentle persuasion, my girlfriend not only switched from Windows to Linux, but also became my fiancee. I left grad school and got a real job, which left me with even less time to fool around even with my -- er, our -- network, let alone my parents' computers. My fiancee became my wife, we left the apartment for a small house, and then I found myself spending more time changing diapers than floppies.

In other words, somewhere along the way, I turned into an adult.

WARNING: RAID-6 is currently highly experimental.  If you use it, there is no guarantee whatsoever that it won't destroy your data, eat your disk drives, insult your mother, or re-appoint George W. Bush.

arch/sparc/kernel/ptrace.c:/* Fuck me gently with a chainsaw... */

arch/mips/kernel/irixelf.c:#if 0 /* XXX No fucking way dude... */

drivers/net/sunhme.c:          /* This card is _fucking_ hot... */

net/xfrm/xfrm_algo.c:                  /* Fuck, we are miserable poor guys... */

Men var i en eller annen 2.4-kjerne jeg fant "/* fuck, this is here just so that you can grep for it */".... Noen som har rydda opp i koden :/
