English to Norwegian translator needed to relocate to Thailand!

We are looking for a Norwegian to relocate to Hua Hin in Thailand to work mainly with translations (English to Norwegian) as well as some related work. We are a small Scandinavian team (age 23-33) and as our Norwegian employee is leaving next month, we are looking for a new one!

Facts about the job:

I'l assume that most people will flag this as a scam as long you can't provide any link to companies website or more general information.

Behøver ikke å være svindel. Det er ikke alle land som er like formell som Norge. Og inntekten er på ca. 7000,- i måneden. En svindler ville nok ha oppgitt høyere inntekt for å tiltrekke seg flere.

Er veldig mange norske i HuaHin, og det er et populært feriested for skandinaver. 

Jeg var der i påsken i fjor, og mange av bedriftene hadde reklame i vinduet om at de snakket norsk/svensk etc.

 

Så dette trenger altså ikke å være scam.

Unless you go drinking everyday here, you can easily save up some money. 1000 baht a day just as spending money is quite a lot.

My question is why a translator (as different from an interpreter) needs to relocate to your location - I would have thought that this would be the ideal "netcommuter" position: Work from home, get source texts transmitted to your home office, and deliver your product the same way...

 

So, why the need for relocation ?

It is not viable at all to have our translators located throughout the world for this kind of work. We are working closely with our two primary websites that need product translations, terms and agreements updated, social media and some other stuff that can change in an instance. It makes more sense (for us at least) to have everyone located in the same office - also for the social aspect.

 

And as others have pointed out; the wage is lower here in Thailand because it is a much cheaper country to live in than Norway for example.

You are more than correct! Thailand is a very cheap country to live in compared to Hong Kong. 30,000 is more than plenty to get on by and even for saving up a bit of money. 1000 Baht/a day can get you a very long way. Renting a scooter/motorbike is 2000 baht a month - which covers all of your transportation. Remember that the accommodation is paid for as well.

I heard with a friend, and he has part time job there, working 2-3 days a week and earn morn than 30 000 baht a month. He told me that this is close to the minimum wage in Thailand, and u can barely make a living out of it.

 I heard with a friend, and he has part time job there, working 2-3 days a week and earn morn than 30 000 baht a month. He told me that this is close to the minimum wage in Thailand, and u can barely make a living out of it.

 

 

But this job includes free accommodation. This give you 1000 baht to use for whatever each day as you have no living expenses. For that money you can eat every meal of the day at a restaurant, go to a bar and have some drinks and still have around 400-600 baht left. And you can live like this every day, and still save money! How this is barely living is beyond me.

Well with free accommodation it's not the worse u can get. But still the income itself is not good
