imas Skrevet 17. juli 2015 Del Skrevet 17. juli 2015 Hei, I get a place in UiO Medicine. I am currently 4th year Med student abroad and have MS in Physics. I would like to move to Oslo but I am wondering how much you can get transfer credits from my studies. I have to visit them as soon as possible. I have also a secondary place in Trondheim and in Medicine. I am wondering which university (Trondeim or Oslo) is more fair with transfer credits. I know that I need to enroll to become a freshman student in Oslo but some transfer credits are possible. Does any one have idea how much you can get transfer credits in these two universities in Medicine? Lenke til kommentar
Ignorancus Skrevet 17. juli 2015 Del Skrevet 17. juli 2015 I don't think you can, but you can try contacting UiO/NTNU and ask them yourself. http://www.uio.no/english/about/contact/ http://www.ntnu.edu/contact Lenke til kommentar

krikkert Skrevet 19. juli 2015 Del Skrevet 19. juli 2015 Transfer credits do not really function as expected in the UiO Medical School, as while you may get transfer credits, you may not progress faster than your class. Even if you are exempt from your first full year, you can't proceed until your second year until Fall 2016. Exemptions are made if the class you wish to transfer to consists of less than 104 (Fall)/114 (Spring) students in the receiving class. See more here. Thus, a lot of the point of getting transfer credit is lost - you'll just spend a year or more taking non-Medicine classes, waiting for your class to catch up. In order to receive transfer credits, you must document equivalency, that is, that specific classes in your medical education are equivalent to classes in the UiO Medicine Programme. NTNU does not seem to accept transfer credits (according to their Student Handbook). I would advise you to call them and ask. Lenke til kommentar

Assume you get some transfer credits. I am doing PhD in Medical Imaging of Physics/Mathematics at the same time so I do have other things to do besides my studies. Do you need to take non-Medicine courses if you get accepted for transfer credits? I read that you can take at least 4 semester as exchange studies in other universities; only two semesters per university. I have studied 1.5 years of Medicine in two distinct universities. So the best chance is that I get 2 years as exchange years. I am mostly interested in getting the basics courses such Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Physics, Pharmacology and Embryology. Then, it says that you can get accepted for Philosophy if you studied that 10 points. I have studied 9 points but I can try to study 1 more point to get the whole course accepted. @NeeeO I am from Finland. Lenke til kommentar
krikkert Skrevet 20. juli 2015 Del Skrevet 20. juli 2015 You don't have to take non-Medicine (degree) courses, but as I said, you can't proceed to the more advanced Medicine courses (and the point of getting transfer credit is lost totally if you're just going to take the classes you've just passed by way of transfer credit). You can of course take other courses from the Faculty of Medicine that are not part of the medical degree. Medicine non-Medicine courses, as it were. Transfer credit for the Examen Philosophicum requires 10 ECTS in Philosophy and Logic courses - just Philosophy won't necessarily be enough unless your Philosophy classes have Logic components to them. You can't study any old Philosophy/Logic class either, you need to study classes which contain functionally equivalent topics as the class you're interested in getting transfer credit for.
