Sikker Linux med SuSE

Jeg har tenkt å installere SuSE Linux 9 Pro når jeg får fatt i den og lurte på følgende: Adamantix tilbyr endel sikkerhetstiltak og jeg lurte på om disse kunne bli mulig å legge inn i SuSE sin linux distribusjon?(Jeg har en endel brukererfaring med linux, men er ikke helt trygg på det meste ennå)..

What Adamantix provides

 

* Buffer overflow protection:

* By using a special GCC compiler patch called Stack Smashing Protector (SSP). This compiler is also used to compile the kernel, to protect against kernel buffer overflows.

* By using a special kernel patch called PaX, which tries to do its best to keep data and code seperate. Buffer overflows often overwrite data and then execute it as if it were code. PaX tries to prevent this.

 

* IP-Sec support (FreeS/WAN), including opportunistic tunneling, which is a unique feature of FreeS/WAN. IP-Sec can be used for building VPNs and also to protect W-LAN traffic.

 

* The possibility for setting up military grade security by using the Mandatory Access Control functionality provided by RSBAC (this is rather complex and at the moment only feasible for experts).

 

* Zorp, which is an application level proxy firewall suite with some interesting features.

 

* W-LAN Host-AP mode drivers, which allow Linux to be used as a W-LAN base station.

 

* A distribution based on Debian woody, but with some packages from testing and unstable (where it makes sense to do that).

 

* Transparency: Everything related to this project is (or should be) visible to anyone. It is the philosophy of this project that secrecy and a high-level of security and trustworthyness do not mix.

 

* Openness: The project is fully open, everyone can participate, take part in discussions and contribute code and ideas.
