Good Old Games

Anbefalte innlegg

  1. We’ve got games your 10-year-old won’t be better at.

GOG.com offers you critically acclaimed games from major publishers in every genre. Don’t let your kids mock the graphics; remind them that the classics never go out of style, unlike their totally wicked haircut.

  2. So you’re cheap. It’s okay – we are, too.

For less than the cost of a lunch at some lousy diner you can own some of the greatest games of all time. No matter how big the file is and how successful the game was, you’ll leave the table satisfied that you got a great deal for your money. As an added bonus, our house specialities won’t make you sick.

  3. You buy it, you keep it.

Don't let your DRMs turn into nightmares (clever, no?). You won't find any intrusive copy protection in our games; we hate draconian DRM schemes just as much as you do, so at GOG.com you don't just buy the game, you actually own it. Once you download a game, you can install it on any PC and re-download it whenever you want, as many times as you need, and you can play it without an internet connection.

  4. All games are Vista and XP compatible.

Thanks to our handsome programming team, the classics are now Windows Vista and Windows XP compatible. Now you can use your lightning-fast PC to unleash the full potential of those games you just couldn’t play properly on that busted old 386.

  5. Extend the experience with tons of cool and exclusive add-ons.

Buying the game is just the beginning. With the purchase of any game at GOG.com you'll also get some great additional materials for free, including game guides, walkthroughs, MP3 game soundtracks, wallpapers and more. No joke.

  6. We’re bringing together classic games and a classy community.

Dive into the GOG.com community, share your love for the games and meet other gamers with the same passion for classic games as you. Rate and review every single game, discuss your favorite titles on message boards, get support for your games and help others. Who knows, maybe you’ll find that special someone.

  7. It's so easy, your gramma’s probably already playing.

GOG.com is so easy to use. We have an easy account setup, game installers as user friendly as can be and simple, fast and hassle-free downloads. Thanks to these features, you'll need just a few clicks to get you on your way to playing some of the best PC games of all time.

  8. Same game, same price, no matter where you're from!

We believe that all gamers around the world should be treated equally. Therefore GOG.com is available to everyone, everywhere, and we offer the same prices to gamers from all countries. Getting the worldwide rights to the games takes some extra effort on our part, but we think it's worth the reward of opening up our site to the world.

In this weekend promo we decided to gather a group of assorted classics where everyone can find something for their taste. Until Monday, February 28 at 11:59 p.m. EDT the loot seekers can grab Arx Fatalis for $3.59, blood thirsty fans of carnage will probably go for POSTAL: Classic and Uncut for $3.59 and POSTAL 2 Complete for $5.99, while armchair generals will pick either the medieval themed Stronghold for $3.59 and Stronghold Crusader for $5.99 or the brain-twisting The Incredible Machine Mega Pack for $5.99. You have to agree there's a whole lot of diversity in this offer. The promo is not a bundle one, so you'll receive the 40% discount if you buy one, two or all the games from the offer.

8246e83026d72be82d2d91a.jpg

Hear ye, all Zork lovers! On this fine day we present to you the second graphical adventure hailing from the Zork series. Let the rejoicing commence!

Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands is a first-person perspective, point-and-click adventure game. This game was quite different compared to its predecessor, Return to Zork. First of all, instead of showing a still image of the surrounding area, it creates a simulated 360-degree view, making it all the more immersive. Most notably, though, the setting is quite unlike any Zork game that came before Nemesis. It's much more sombre and serious, in stark contrast to the jovial, light-hearted spirit of the prequels. A sizable portion of the Zork fanbase preferred the old atmosphere and Activision heeded the call of the people, but Nemesis is, beyond doubt, a fantastic game in its own right.

Every Zork fan owes it to the series to experience a completely different approach to the classic setting.

17e8a922148eb0b7db012f3.jpg

After releasing a more complex and demanding game earlier this week, today we're offering you a pure mix of mindless-action and fun!

Shadowgrounds is an arcade style, top-down alien shooter, and actually it's one of the best there is. The game features a pure old-school type of gameplay and graphics that were extremely nice when the title was released and still are more than appealing by today's standards. The plot revolves around aliens invasion on a distant space colony, but where the game really shines is the huge arsenal of weapons and boss fights. You can choose an impressive number of deadly weapons like flame thrower, grenade launcher or electric gun and upgrade them throughout the whole game. And you'll need those powerful guns when meeting face to face with the BIG bosses! If you're scared to wander through dark corridors alone, play in co-op mode with up to 3 friends on one computer. So are you ready to see for yourself what is lurking in the shadows?

After releasing the first three installments of this acclaimed series, it was only natural to add Heroes of Might and Magic 4 to the lineup. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

You probably know this already, but Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a casual, fantasy-themed turn-based strategy, in which you explore a magical land and lead hordes of mythical creatures against the enemies of your realm. The Complete edition includes the original game and its two expansions: The Gathering Storm and Winds of War, giving you countless hour of gameplay to look forward to.

The fourth installment of the series remains the fabulous fairy-tale design and beautiful 2D graphics, but also was somewhat innovative, as it added many new features to the well-established gameplay of its predecessors, most notably letting the Heroes participate in battles. Get your copy today and find out how the gameplay evolved.

The previous Might and Magic titles received a really warm welcome from the GOG community. It was our duty to add the next part of this classic series to the catalogue.

Might and Magic 7: For Blood and Honor is a first-person perspective cRPG and is considered by many to be the best installment of the series.

A deep, involving storyline with memorable characters and many endings is to be expected of a game with such a strong pedigree, and there's enough of it to keep you busy for weeks. The story comes packed with great presentation, especially its absolutely phenomenal musical score.

What's more, if you're a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic, you're in for a treat, as you'll no doubt recognize many of the monsters from the third part of the series.

Finally, Might and Magic 7 features its very own trading card game, called Acromage. Its rules are simple, but it's a full game in its own right and you might end up playing the RPG just to feed your Arcomage addiction!

ce031b9d1f0f415678d9880.jpg

With four games and a bunch of additional content for each one, today's release of Battle Isle Platinum is one of the largest in GOG's history.

Battle Isle Platinum covers a huge chunk of the acclaimed turn-based strategy/tactics series and consists of:

- Battle Isle 1 including Data Disk 1 & Battle Isle ‘93 & Historyline: 1914-1918,

- Battle Isle 2 including Scenery CD “Titan’s Legacy”,

- Battle Isle 3 along with extensive video sequences,

- Incubation and the wilderness missions.

That's easily enough to keep your inner strategist busy for weeks, or months if you work for a living!

So, what is this series about, you ask? It's about strategy and tactics at their very finest. It's about using the units at your disposal to the best of your ability in order to achieve specific goals, rather than building an impenetrable fortress, preparing a massive zerg and spamming your enemy with it, rinse, repeat. Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, the Battle Isle series is about a deep, involving storyline with a huge backstory, both in-game and in "feelies". The latter are, of course, available with our release in digital form.

Go ahead and see for yourself why this series achieved cult classic status.

Det nyeste tilskuddet til GOGs spillkatalog er Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer:

6fdbda2c5ab5aeaa785bdbe.jpg

We hope you've been busy playing Might and Magic 7, because its sequel is now officially part of our rapidly expanding collection of games!

Might and Magic 8: Day of the Destroyer is a first-person perspective role-playing game and is the last game of the series with such strong ties to its predecessors. Most notably, its engine is based on that of the classic Might and Magic 6, with most of the familiar mechanics remaining, for the most part, unchanged.

The story, closely tied to the previous Might and Magic games and also Heroes of Might and Magic 3, is enthralling and full of exploration, great dialog and puzzles and, of course, is accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack.

Acromage, the card mini-game you should remember from the prequel, is present in the eight installment as well, with a few alterations, and is still as addictive as ever.

The biggest difference between this game and its predecessors is that you don't have to create an entire party right at the start. You're free to recruit new members for your party and change its composition at will. You can even have a dragon as one of your companions.

So if you haven't finished Might and Magic 7 yet, do it quickly (without sacrificing the experience, of course!) and witness the next chapter of the story.

As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalog, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

For our inaugural GOG Gem Promo, we’d like to introduce you to a serious friend of ours. His name is Sam. Released by Croatian developers CroTeam in 2002 when games were becoming ever more “realistic” (by which most developers seemed to mean “brown”), Serious Sam: The First Encounter was a throwback to the button-mashing, alien-killing days of shooters gone bye. Saturated with color and packed with so many bizarre enemies (headless monsters with bombs for hands, anyone?) that your screen would fill with literally hundreds of them, Serious Sam’s combination of gameplay and wacky world-building made it a huge success. The First Encounter has been available on GOG since August of 2010. While it’s not the HD version you can find elsewhere, the gameplay is untouched, and for $2.39 you owe it to yourself to skip that post-lunch latte and get serious.

This promo will run from 12:00 noon GMT today all the way to 11.59 GMT tomorrow. Grab your copy of Serious Sam: The First Encounter while it’s hot, and stay tuned for our next promo in two weeks!

(Hint: It won’t be Serious Sam: The Second Encounter)

Not only have we had a serious gaming gem on sale this week, but we’re also giving you a chance to win 10 game codes with your best Warlord's Battlecry (We’re recruiting heroes from the Seven Kingdoms (2 types) to help us with our new releases). I think you can say that GOG isn’t just "Capitalism Plus", here. We want you to find and enjoy classic games on GOG, and this weekend we’re offering the Enlight catalog up to 60% off, so if you’ve always wondered if you’re not just awesome enough to defeat your Ancient Adversaries but also conquer the world using Capitalism, Too now is your chance to find out. If you read the previous sentences carefully, we think you can figure out which titles are included in the promo. Check out the promo page to see what we’ve got on offer.

P.S. Something something something “Restaurant Empire” something. We couldn’t figure out how to work that into a sentence gracefully. Hit us up in the comments if you can come up with something that doesn’t stick out like a tiger at the Westminster Kennel Show.

Say hello to XIII - probably the most unique FPS of all time. Definitely one of the best. Discover it, play it and perhaps shed a tear at the lack of a sequel.

XIII is a first-person shooter based on the first five volumes of a popular Belgian comic book series. You're put in the shoes of XIII, badly wounded and with no recollection of your past. The American president has been assassinated and all of a sudden everyone's out to get you. Are you the assassin? Were you framed? Whoever you are, you must be damn important and you won't let anyone stop you from reclaiming your identity.

What makes XIII special is its comic book-style design. The characters and weapons are cel-shaded, outlines and all, and there's a whole bunch of stylish features, like visualized sound effects. Imagine shooting a gun and seeing "BLAM!" right next to the muzzle flash. Just how cool is that?

Finally, a great, involving storyline, a perfect musical score, and top-notch voice acting by such actors as David Duchovny and Adam West make XIII an absolutely epic game.

d53402c9312436394648825.jpg

Finally, a new platformer on GOG.com! Or, to be more precise, one of the greatest titles the genre has ever seen!

Rayman is a 2D platformer game and the first title of a famous series that spawned sequels and spin-offs beyond count. The Forever edition, released by Ubisoft around 3 years after the original game, includes a bunch of goodies, most notably a level editor and Rayman By His Fans - 40 of the best staff-picked levels made with that very editor.

The game itself is a true platformer, with a strong emphasis on timing and reflex-based challenges, rather than combat. Its difficulty seems just right, in a way that makes you have to earn every level, but leaves you thoroughly satisfied afterwards.

Finally, Rayman still looks great, despite being over fifteen years old. This is mostly due to its amazing, fluid animations, but the game's high-color graphics and creative level design are sure to make an impression on you as well.

Overall, today's release is a pure, classic platformer that every gamer should at least try out.

Og, selvfølgelig, et nytt helgesalg:

April Fools or not, it's Friday and this weekend deal on GOG is no joke! We're giving you an up to 60% discount on all games available in Rebellion's catalogue. If you're serious about strategy games, you'll definitely find some serious gems in that genre like Empire Earth, Ground Control and Lords of the Realm series. For those who aren't considering themselves armchair-generals, should try out Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death and Pinball Gold Pack. Last but not least we recommend everyone grabbing the great Evil Genius! The promo ends on Monday, April 4 at 11:59 EDT.

Stenge steam tråden først da B)

Helt greit for min del.

4996f3044188c43617706af.jpg

The first title from the just announced agreement with Funbox Media is not a game for kids and will definitely make you get goose pimples all over.

Realms of the Haunting is, first and foremost, a horror game, but contains an interesting mix of different genres. It's a first-person perspective game with quite a bit of shooting involved, but is also an adventure game and has some RPG elements. Finally, there are many FMV sequences on top of it all. This sounds overwhelming and believe us Realms of the Haunting is one of those few games that do a good job at blending different genres.

The story is by far the strongest quality of Realms of the Haunting - it's solid and keeps you hooked from the beginning to the very end. The presentation, despite the old visuals, does a great job at keeping the suspense up and give you a good scare when required. The free-look camera and freedom of movement result in a strong connection between you and the game.

You're not too scared to play this game... Are you?
