Old PC cooling and modcase.

Hi. Sorry for english language, but I don't know norwegian and I don't know where else to make a work log.

 

So my first project is to cool and mod my old pc a little bit.

Im going to cool down my GPU, and try to cool my CPU more.

As for the mod, im going to make a exhaust and a window.

 

 

So here I have my fan that I'm going to use to cool down my GPU.

 

 

 

 

 

And here I'm adding the legs for the fan so it can hold on.

 

 

 

 

 

So here is the fan attached to the case. The airflow is good and it has no problems cooling the GPU

 

 

 

 

 

 

And in result from 46°C staying in no action, I cooled it to 28°C staying in no action.

Playing a game like Call of Duty 4 it doesnt go over 39°C. So it was worth it!

 

 

 

 

 

So that's it for today. Next time im getting a fan and attaching it to the CPU cooler so it cools better.

Update 1

 

 

So now I have sketched the computer how it looks now and the things how and where I am going to attach.

 

And I drawed the window on the door that I am going to cut out. I made a plastic window out of the box where was the GPU fan sealed in.

 

So here are the pictures of the door and the plastic window.

Here is the back of the computer. The only thing at the back that changes is the exhaust fan.

It will be LED.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here is the door. I drawed a place where im going to cut it out. It's the same thing as the picture, but only MS Paint version.

 

 

 

 

 

And here im showing how I am going to cool down CPU more. Im going to attach the LED 80mm fan

right to the stock fan. It will have better airflow.

 

 

 

 

 

 

So thank you for paying attention on Update 1. Next time I am going to cut the window out and attach the plastic piece.

Update 2.

 

Today I finished my door. Broke 3 blades -.-, but it's a good thing I bought 6 of them!

 

So here are the pictures of what I have done today!

Here I am done cutting it out and hitting it with a hammer to make it straight.

 

 

 

 

Here im done smoothing the little pieces down.

 

 

 

 

 

And here I attached the plastic piece as the window! I did out a piece of a little metal ball so you guys can see that it is there.

 

 

 

 

 

Ok so I'm done with the door. That leads us to the fans. And I am sorry to say this, but this may take a while me to get them. 1. Because here we don't have LED fans in stores. 2. I have to order them from somewhere they are in. So it will take a while. Sorry :/

Additional details

 

So since I am going to use this computer my self and it has low RAM, HDD space and a weak PSU, I'm thinking of modding my computer alot more. So I will try to get more stuff and make this computer a old killer machine! So the specs of this PC are : Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz , RAM: 1.5GB , Nvidia GeForce 6200 256mb, 2 HDD's = 187.6GB . So I will try to upgrade my computer except CPU and GPU.
