Also approaching the cockpit with a banana in their pocket are Juventus and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak carrying a large sack full of additional money. Bolton want cheeky little chip-dinking Arsenal goal-nacho Carlos Vela on loan. Newcastle have developed an all-girls boarding school style "pash" for QPR attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt, who has 11 goals this season, is the star of the lacrosse team and reads Christina Rossetti beautifully. Newcastle are also after Paris Saint Germain winger Stephane Sessegnon, a mercurial 26-year-old who wants to leave because he's just had a bust-up with his manager. He'll be fine. Absolutely fine. Blackburn and West Ham are duking it out for Hoffenheim winger Demba Ba. Hoffenheim want £10m. And mid-years Freddie Mercury impersonator Georgios Samaras has "urged" Celtic to give him a new contract after scoring twice against Rangers. "Fiasco" and "ludicrous": just a couple of the words this morning's edition of the Sun uses to describe Blackburn's attempts to sign big-shorted, hang-10 gesturing, suddenly-stopped-being-brilliant Milan ambler Ronaldinho. The Mill is already planning to spend the next month furiously refreshing the Venky's Facebook page, where news of this sensational non-existent poultry-fuelled disaster-swoop first appeared. Who says social networking websites are for deluded solipsistic megalomaniacs? Not the Mill, or probably Ronaldinho either who is too busy training with Gremio in Brazil. Also in the Sun, Man City have already agreed a £27m, £100,000-a-week deal for Dzeko. This is described as "cut-price". Slouching goal-disappointments Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor could soon both be off somewhere else. LA Galaxy fans are cross with mid-ballpark puck-sprayer David Beckham for wanting to play for Sp*rs, Milan or anyone else whenever he gets the chance. ""How about this selfish damn pig plays at least half the games in a Galaxy season at least once during his contract?" the Sun quotes from one irate fan's post on a club message board. Jolly old Ian Holloway is worried Charlie Adam could leave Blackpool in the window. "I'm not being funny," he said, "but Yaya Touré will probably be on more in a week than my whole squad put together." Holloway has again announced "reluctantly" that Adam should soon be on his way to a Champions League level club. "That's what nice about him, he won't stroll around like he's a chocolate bar, licking himself," he added, still not being funny. Nice Chris Hughton is favourite to become the next Crystal Palace manager. Hull have bid £1.2m for former bricklayer-turned-Swindon-goal-ace Charlie Austin, who has scored 29 goals in 49 games since discarding his hod, and who sounds a bit like a minor Roy of the Rovers character called the Battling Brickie. In this morning's Daily Mirror, Liverpool have decided to move on from the previous era of splashing out speculative millions on swathes of long-shot squad players by paying £5m for 19-year-old Preston North End midfield scamperer Adam Barton, whom they can subsequently ruin by leaving him on the bench for four years while also transforming him into a glazed and demotivated 20-something multi-millionaire. David Moyes wants to take Manchester United occasional Federico Macheda on loan. Harry Redknapp still believes he could sign David Beckham in time to let him hobble about like a furious little right-sided seahorse against Manchester United in two weeks' time. He also wants £9m for Niko Kranjcar, £5m for Robbie Keane and "the majority of their £15m outlay" for David Bentley. Yes, that David Bentley. Avram Grant has made a £4m bid with West Ham's non-existent money for Portsmouth midfielder Liam Lawrence. Lawrence signed for Portsmouth from Stoke at the weekend. Mark Hughes wants to sign England's Jay Bothroyd or Millwall striker Steve Morison, whose surname we haven't mispelled, even though it looks like we might have. "We lack a bit of presence sometimes in the opposition box," he said, performing an illustrative air-jostle. Super Hans in a suit, also known as "Alan Pardew", has admitted he would like to sign Robbie Keane from Sp*rs. "They want to do something and we want to bring an offensive player in," he said, overlooking the fact that he already has Joey Barton to call on. We're only four days into the transfer window and already the whoppers are raining down thick and fast, big fat droplets that leave the Mill soaked to the skin, drenched in that special fluid that is our lifeblood (not Tennants) and feeling like Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings. While we frolic in the downpour, you're best advised to whip out your brolly and watch from afar, lest you be left feeling more than usually damp and disappointed come 31 January … According to the Sun, José Mourinho wants to bring Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor to Real Madrid on loan. Adebayor is described as City's "unhappy hitman", which suggests to the Mill that he might be better off in Bruges (perhaps with Club Bruges?). However City could hold out for the cash in order to fund their move for gangly Bosnian goal-getter and intimate friend of the Mill, Edin Dzeko. Panto season may be over but that hasn't stopped Blackburn indulging in a spot of "Oh, no he isn't, oh, yes he is!" After claiming that they were in for Ronaldinho and then denying it, Rovers have now admitted they do want to sign the Brazilian (and all this within the space of 24 hours). Ronaldinho is being lined up for the role of Widow Twankey with manager Steve Kean 'keen' on bringing back wantaway City striker Roque Santa Cruz on loan – presumably to play Aladdin. All of which deckchair shuffling may pave the way for Aston Villa to sign disgruntled Rovers centre-back and set-piece marauder Christopher Samba, with Gérard Houllier willing to throw in Curtis Davies plus £5m. T*ttenham, not content with trying to bilk LA Galaxy out of David Beckham, are set to prise Luis Suárez away from Ajaz for the princely, yet strangely cut-price, fee of £17m. Meanwhile Chelsea, currently floundering in Sp*rs' wake in both the league and the transfer market, have set a £12m limit on their bid to buy Gary Cahill. Owen Coyle reckons "those sorts of players move for £20m, £25m or £30m" so it looks like Carlo Ancelotti will have to call up Omid Djalili and get him to start haggling like a Persian in a bazaar, or whatever the correct stereotype is. Bolton, meanwhile, are interested in signing Utrecht's £1.5m-rated Michael Silberbauer. No, we've never heard of him either. Liverpool want Hamburg's jinking Dutch winger Eljero Elia to be the next Ryan Babel "help ease the burden" on Fernando Torres, according to the Mirror. The Sun reckons that could pave the way for Babel to go to Birmingham. Roy Hodgson's long list of things he'd like this month, just below a pat on the back and a nice plate of scouse, also includes Cluj's Ivory Coast international Lacina Traoré, Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge and Suárez. Will all that see Daniel Agger do one to Juventus on loan? Yes, say the Sun. Newcastle social worker Alan Pardew says his squad is "vulnerable" and wants to sign former England hairpiece David Bentley from T*ttenham. Pardew is no longer keen on Bentley's predecessor in the barbershop, Beckham, however. "I would like more dynamic speed in the team and that wouldn't be David Beckham," said Pardew, in a statement that is rather too much like a fact for the Mill's liking. Newcastle also want Wayne Bridge on loan and Robbie Keane on a kind of try-before-you-buy arrangement (with Sp*rs getting £4m in the summer). Other pictures currently scrolling across Pardew's desktop screensaver include Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Max Gradel. Everton's Leighton Baines, who looks like a footballer from the 1950s, has turned down Bayern Munich because he doesn't fancy taking up life in Germany and learning their funny foreign ways. "We cannot force him to join us. He would rather live in Liverpool than Munich, and that's that," said Karl-Heinze Rummenigge. One assumes Baines was told about the delights of the Hofbräuhaus. Everton meanwhile have grabbed one end of Monaco's Dieumerci Mbokani. West Ham have the other but could be distracted by their attempts to arrange a taxi for Tuncay. The £4m Turkey striker will be pushed off a ledge by Stoke manager Tony Pulis, with Blackburn and Wigan also edging backwards and forward whilst holding an outstretched sheet down below. West Ham are also after Swiss former Sp*rs and Wigan makeweight Reto Ziegler; and Benni McCarthy could go to the MLS as the Hammers look to lighten their load, so to speak – a snippet of news that prompted the following outpouring from a reader of the Sun's website: "YES ! YES !! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY DAYS ". Time for the quickfire round: Kyle Walker, currently on loan from T*ttenham at QPR, could go on loan to Villa; Wigan want Gabriel Obertan if Tom Cleverley goes back to Manchester United; and Wolves are waving £500,000 at Barnsley for former Liverpool winger and Star Wars screen legend, Adam Hammill. Both West Brom and Wolves want Middlesbrough's Julio Arca while Everton and Villa "watched" David Wheater in Boro's game against Leeds. Whether they liked what they saw was not reported but Stoke "also remain keen", according to the Mail. Galatasaray will fight West Ham for Abdoulaye Faye; and Swansea fancy a bit of West Brom striker Luke Moore. And we'll end with a story that neatly entwines the state of football's relationship with money and the biannual glut of feverish tittle-tattling truth-seeking in our nation's great media. Manchester United have first option to buy the now £10m-rated Ryan Shawcross, despite offloading him to Stoke for £2m two years ago. And Liverpool are also in for him West Ham have reportedly bid £5million for Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba, while Liverpool are said to be closing on Eljero Elia. Blackburn's owners last night claimed they had made a £6.2million bid for Ronaldinho - 24 hours after denying it. David Beckham is being forced to wait on his dream move to Sp*rs - because his American bosses are busy buying an NFL team. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew does not want David Beckham - claiming the England superstar is too slow. Owen Coyle wants Carlos Vela to follow in Jack Wilshere's footsteps and revive his Arsenal career with a loan spell at Bolton. Jose Mourinho wants Man City's unhappy hitman Emmanuel Adebayor on loan at Real Madrid. West Ham boss Avram Grant has bid £5million for Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba. Tuncay is set to quit Stoke with West Ham, Blackburn and Wigan ready to enter a bidding war. Liverpool are closing in on £13million Dutch World Cup star Eljero Elia. Wigan are trying to get Man Utd midfielder Gabriel Obertan on loan if Sir Alex Ferguson recalls Tom Cleverley from his spell at the JJB. Juventus could make a loan swoop for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger. Mick McCarthy is ready to enter the £500,000 race for Barnsley's Adam Hammill. Former Cardiff supremo Peter Ridsdale will be named Plymouth chairman if he can save them from going bust. Southampton's Adam Lallana has been offered a big three-year deal to fend off Premier League interest. Edin Dzeko was last night backed to form a potent strike partnership with Carlos Tevez - by current boss Steve McClaren. Hamburg's Eljero Elia is Roy Hodgson's top choice to ease the burden on Fernando Torres. Alan Pardew will hold a transfer summit with Newcastle chiefs today with David Bentley the top of his January wanted list. Blackburn boss Steve Kean wants to bring back Roque Santa Cruz in a shock loan move from Manchester City. Steve Coppell is a shock contender to take over at Crystal Palace - for the fifth time. Under-fire Cardiff boss Dave Jones was last night given the vote of confidence by his board. Bolton boss Owen Coyle is hoping Arsene Wenger will give him Arsenal's Mexican striker Carlos Vela on loan. Bayern Munich have conceded defeat in their bid to sign Leighton Baines. Tuncay is ready to quit Stoke this month - with West Ham, Blackburn and Wigan all ready to enter a January auction. Peter Taylor is on the brink of joining Newcastle as Alan Pardew's number two. Blackburn's bold attempt to sign Ronaldinho descended into farce and confusion last night as speculation resurfaced of a £6.2million bid for the Brazil star. Roy Hodgson has pleased with Liverpool's American owners to give him the chance to increase his influence on the team and prove he is the right man for the job. Newcastle have asked Manchester City about a loan for Wayne Bridge and hope to strike a deal with Sp*rs to take Robbie Keane now and pay £4million in the summer. Real Madrid are keen to take Emmanuel Adebayor on a short-term loan from Manchester City but the move will go ahead only when City have completed a deal for Edin Dzeko. Aston Villa have made an enquiry about T*ttenham defender Kyle Walker. Swansea are interested in West Brom striker Luke Moore. Charlton are interested in taking Liverpool's young striker Nathan Eccleston on loan. West Brom and Wolves want Middlesbrough's Argentine midfielder Julio Arca. Roy Hodgson is ready to gamble with his Liverpool future by resting the club's two biggest stars. David Beckham has pleaded with LA Galaxy to rush through his move to T*ttenham before the end of the week. Roy Keane admitted he could be the next boss to get the chop after his Ipswich side slumped to yet another defeat. Roman Abramovich will hand Carlo Ancelotti the cash he needs to keep Chelsea in the title race, with Bolton defender Gary Cahill a potential target. Onsdag 05.01.2010 0937 GMT: Newcastle hope to tie up a permanent move for French winger Hatem Ben Arfa from Marseille within the next 24 hours. Full story: Daily Mirror Harry Redknapp wants Andy Carroll and reportedly will give Newcastle David Bentley, Niko Kranjcar and Robbie Keane in exchange and stick a loaf on anyone who has the damn cheek to suggest he is a wheeler-dealer. If that deal doesn't come off, Redknapp will doom any hopes T*ttenham ever had of becoming popular in Ghana by signing Uruguayan striker-cum-goalkeeper Luis Suárez. Or maybe not, because it is also said that Redknapp is haggling with FC Utrecht for Ricky van Wolfswinkel, even though the striker sounds worryingly like a playboy tulip baron who spends most of his time in a crushed velvet dressing gown with his initials on it. Golly, Liverpool want Wolfswinkel too but given their record of turning prolific Utrecht strikers into scuttering midfield mules, that may not be the best move for the 21-year-old. However, Roy Hodgson is determined to sign a centre-forward if it's the last thing he does, and it may well be, since rumours persist that he will be given the sack any day now. But that won't change Liverpool's transfer targets, since Damien Commoli is the main influence there - and that's good news for Lacina Traoré, who has been dubbed "the new Adebayor" and fancies quitting Cluj for Merseyside, though he would not, of course, celebrate any goals at Anfield, preferring to sprint all the way back to Cluj to do so like a demented galoot in front of his former fans. Daniel Sturridge won't be scoring any goals at Anfield either, as Chelsea (a) will not let him join Liverpool, and (b) hardly ever play him. Liverpool also want to give a new home to tricky schemer and pun-trigger Keisuke Honda, who will probably be better on the road. Blackburn are keen to sign Damien Duff, Roque Santa Cruz and perhaps a couple of Ultravox LPs, just to complete the nostalgic vibe. Manchester United want to Pepe up their midfield and defence and, handily, Real Madrid may be prepared to do a deal. Udinese are not, however, which means Alexis Sánchez will not be allowd to move to Old Trafford until next summer at the earliest. Milan have come up with a cunning plan to avoid being ripped apart by Gareth Bale in the next round of the Champions League: sign the Welsh wonder before T*ttenham come to town. Inter and Juventus want Bale too, with Italian newspapers claiming Serie A clubs have established that Bale would only leave White Hart Lane for a club in Italy. Kyle Walker, on the other hand, may leave White Hart Lane for a club in deep doodoo. West Ham want the 20-year-old, who, despite his name, is currently flying while on loan at QPR. Happily for Walker, other clubs are also interested, including Aston Villa and Sunderland. Villa seek a striker too, and Monaco have told Gérard Houllier he can have Dieumerci Mbokané on the condition that he persuades Stephen Ireland to swap Birmingham for Monte Carlo. Not a particularly hard sell, you'd imagine, but Houllier hasn't been able to get Ireland to do anything since arriving at Villa Park so don't be surprised if, after a chat with the boss, Ireland declares he will settle for nothing less than a loan move to Inverness. Speaking of loan moves to Inverness, that's where … no hold on, the Mill's mistake: in reality Samuel Eto'o is considering a switch back to Real Madrid. Liverpool are considering a bid for 6ft 8in FC Cluj striker Lacina Traore, while West Ham and Blackburn want Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito. David Beckham is on the verge of completing a loan move to Sp*rs. David Moyes says he will never quit as Everton boss. Wigan are targeting Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood as a replacement for Chris Kirkland. Bolton boss Owen Coyle has told £20m-rated defender Gary Cahill that he is better off staying with Wanderers. Carlo Ancelotti admits he is lucky not to have been sacked as Chelsea boss. West Ham and Blackburn are tracking Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito. Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson will sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic. Liverpool's Danish defender Daniel Agger has threatened to quit the club if he does not get regular football. Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is lining up a £1.5m bid for 20-year-old Huddersfield keeper Alex Smithies. Liverpool are considering a January bid for 6ft 8in FC Cluj striker Lacina Traore. T*ttenham are lining up a January bid for £17m-rated Ajax striker Luis Suarez. French side Monaco will offer Dieumerci Mbokani in a swap deal with Aston Villa for Stephen Ireland. Blackburn want to bring Fulham winger Damien Duff and Manchester City forward Roque Santa Cruz back to Ewood Park. Leicester are set to make a move for out-of-favour Everton striker Yakubu. Liverpool have enquired about Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Birmingham are set to sign 23-year-old Boca Juniors striker Pablo Mouche on loan and also want Robbie Keane from Sp*rs. Tottenham har veldig mange midstoppere (King, Dawson, Gallas, Kaboul og Bassong) og spisser (Pavluchenko, Crouch, Defoe og Keane), men dessverre så faller de fleste av de inn i kategorien breddespillere. Full story: Daily Express T*ttenham winger Gareth Bale credits cross-country training for turning him into an iron man. Full story: Daily Mirror Run for cover. Millwall boss Kenny Jackett insists striker Steve Morison will not be flogged in the January sales. Roman Abramovich will hand Carlo Ancelotti the cash he needs to keep Chelsea in the title race, with Bolton defender Gary Cahill a potential target. Blackburn's Indian owners, Venky's, cast Ewood Park into uncertainty again last night after it emerged the club had lodged a £6.2million bid for Ronaldinho. Roy Hodgson has pleaded with the owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group, to allow him to spend his way out of trouble despite his future at the club being shrouded in uncertainty. Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is a target for T*ttenham Hotspur this transfer window and his club Ajax have indicated privately that they would be prepared to sell the player for a fee of around £17m.
