"delete this..." = slett dette/denne "to delete" = slette deleted = slettet Or do you want to delete something? It would have been nice if you were a little more specific Btw: How goes with the firewall/router thing, can you connect and upload through it? lilbossy Skrevet 7. mars 2004 Del Skrevet 7. mars 2004 I had posted something in the last post. Wanted to delete it. Did not know Norwegian for Delete. Warning, I tend to post, then decide to delete it after. Thank you for your help. Yes on the Firewall problem. When I turn on the D20L program, must turn off firewall, and when program is running, can turn firewall back on. Am not PC savy, so if my questions do not make sense, that is why. Lenke til kommentar

As far as i know, you cannot delete a post. You'll have to click on edit and then manually delete the content in question Hmm... That was an odd sequence of actions you had to perform! Ever considered changing your firewall? I remember i was using ZoneAlarm when i started with D2OL! No problems at all. I'm behind a router now and can't remember having any trouble whatsoever since i bought it. PS: Have you switched team, lilbossy or do you save for a flush? Best Regards Sceptic I have sygate firewall and router. (am paranoid, been ruined by hacker.) Zone Alarm had probs with it. Was using Black Ice when first pc got fried. Edit to delete yes, just did not understand Norwegian. :-) Still on Norwegian team. Still slowly learning about program. Asked about flushing on D20L lounge/forum. Still confused about when to flush even though I have done so. Do not want to ruin results. Have Med Lab experience, and know it does not take much to screw up results. Am just using little ole home pc to run program, am not set up like most with more than one pc/network. Contribution is alot smaller. If Junta is still around, he might confirm I can annoy with questions that make no sense. Have given TRN100 many a head ache with my questions. Thank you for your assistance. (TAKK!) Was using Black Ice when first pc got fried. Most likely, if you use a softwarebased firewall and at the same time a router, this might be the problem! When you say you must turn off the firewall to connect, there must be a conflict between firewall and router. There may be some port issues you have to resolve to make this work. I can try to help you, but sadly i'm not familiar with those products. Give me the version number of the firewall and the router type and i'll see what i can do. Asked about flushing on D20L lounge/forum. Still confused about when to flush even though I have done so. Do not want to ruin results. OK, basically there are two ways to use the term "flushing". 1: If, for some reason, you've got corrupted candidates in your tasklist, you'll have to do a flush. In this context, it means you have to delete the candidates in your tasklist. This is done by stopping your client (NOT exit), right click on the D2OL icon in the systemtray (lower right corner), choose "Status..." and then "Flush all tasks...". I don't remember exactly, but i think you have to confirm this. The effect of this, is that your tasklist is deleted. When you start the client again it will download new candidates to crunch. 2: When i said "saving for a flush", i meant to put the client in an offline state. That is, it won't upload results until you set it online again. This way, you can save up to 2000 candidates, and then upload them and be the boss of the day (Your cache is set to 2000, right? ) This is nothing more than to create some excitement or whatever reason you have to do a flush. Hope this clear things up Best Regards Sceptic Endret 7. mars 2004 av Sceptic Lenke til kommentar
lilbossy Skrevet 7. mars 2004 Del Skrevet 7. mars 2004 Very Clear TAKK! Will post router information in later post. Used router on other pc, but with the pc I use now, it's very fussy about what it will let through. Any time anyone is willing to teach me more, it will be greatly appreciated. Lenke til kommentar
[RCG]Balthazar Skrevet 8. mars 2004 Del Skrevet 8. mars 2004 About Flushing... I'n the sence of having fun with stats, to make yours jump up on the lists in order to surprize other competitors or to see how far up the "yesterdays best list" I can understand. What I'd like to know a little bit more about is how this effects the results in total and if/how it affects the idividual stats. When results are held back, does other crushers get the same tasks? If so, how long can one hold back ones results before this happens? Also, if someone else get your tasks during this period and deliver them before you release yours, does this render yours useless in regards to statistics as well as overall results? I think I remember something about the stat servers checking for redundancy when results are uploaded. Anyway Lillbossy, you should not save up a lot of results before you feel confident about your router/firewall issues. Lenke til kommentar

Hi [RCG]Balthazar... 1: It does not affect your total results in any way, beside boosting your daily stats the day you upload the results. 2: Yes, other crunchers get the same tasks. This is to be sure that the task will be evaluated. Let's say that the taskserver sent out one, and only one of each task. What do you think would happen if you forced a manual flush (i.e deleted the tasklist). The result of those tasks would have been lost forever. So sending out tasks to multiple participants is practiced among many other DC projects. I'm not sure how long the life-span is for the results though, but you can certainly crunch all your candidates in your cache and still be safe. If anyone knows the life-span of a task, it would be nice if you let us know. 3: This is not an issue. You will be credited for ANY valid result your client upload. Even if someone has evaluated the same candidates as you have. This is used to check the integrity of the results (i.e. no one has tampered with the result). Again, this is done by several DC projects to be sure they can trust the results. 4: I agree Best Regards Sceptic Endret 8. mars 2004 av Sceptic Lenke til kommentar
