Bateau Skrevet 31. mai 2003 Del Skrevet 31. mai 2003 hey, i've just put redhat 8 on my new pc and im having difficulty setting up the onboard sound. ive installed the nforce package, and the onboard ethernet works fine, but the onboard sound is proving a little more illusive. The redhat soundcard detection recognizes that the device is nvidia, but with unknowns, and fails to test. The detail is sketchy at the moment, i'll try to find out more and update the question. but in the meantime, any advise would be great. Lenke til kommentar

MarcelSB Skrevet 3. juni 2003 Del Skrevet 3. juni 2003 Please talk Norwegian at this forum, as this happens to be a Norwegian forum  BTW: You should take a look at SuSE. Stop by SuSEs websites for instructions for installing via FTP (SuSE don't have isos)... MarcelSB Lenke til kommentar

[Infected] Skrevet 3. juni 2003 Del Skrevet 3. juni 2003 try using alsa... many new mb has onboard sound that's not supported by kernel. Like mine Asus a7v8x (can't remeber the name of the sound chip) was not supported by 2.4.18 that rh8 uses (many other mb manufatures uses the same chip abit, msi osv...) You can try using alsa http://www.alsa-project.org this fixed the problem for me (some crappy sound thought) I wold recommend you to update your kernel to 2.4.20 or even better install rh9 instead.
