To be recorded the VAS had to be made directly through the retailer, which is not always the case since it is possible to return directly from the manufacturer: however, this represents a minority during the first year. Here are the numbers:

- Western 0.89% - Western 0.89%

- Hitachi 0.92% - Hitachi 0.92%

- Samsung 2.25% - Samsung 2.25%

- Maxtor 2.79% - Maxtor 2.79%

- Seagate 2.89% - Seagate 2.89%

Western and Hitachi are very good scores, conversely, the situation has worsened significantly but Seagate Maxtor (Maxtor is a reminder to Seagate). If you look at the product to 3% or higher rate of failure, the reason is obvious:

- Samsung SpinPoint T 500 Go : 12.9% - Samsung SpinPoint T 500 GB: 12.9%

- Maxtor DiamondMax 22 1 To : 6.5% - Maxtor DiamondMax 22 1 TB: 6.5%

- Seagate 7200.11 500 Go : 5.2% - Seagate 7200.11 500GB: 5.2%

- Maxtor DiamondMax 22 500 Go : 4.8% - Maxtor DiamondMax 22 500 GB: 4.8%

- Maxtor DiamondMax 22 750 Go : 3.9% - Maxtor DiamondMax 22 750 GB: 3.9%

- Seagate 7200.11 1 To : 3.7% - Seagate 7200.11 1TB: 3.7%

- Seagate 7200.11 750 Go : 3.6% - Seagate 7200.11 750GB: 3.6%

- Hitachi 320 Go IDE : 3.2% - Hitachi 320 GB IDE: 3.2%

The DiamondMax 22 and 7200.11 overhang results from Seagate and Maxtor, because the bug of firmware update earlier this year on this series. It also notes the very (very) bad score on the Samsung SpinPoint T 500 GB Here is the breakdown rate of 1TB disks:

- Maxtor DiamonMax 22 : 6.5% - Maxtor DiamonMax 22: 6.5%

- Seagate 7200.11 : 3.7% - Seagate 7200.11: 3.7%

- Samsung SpinPoint F1 : 2.9% - Samsung SpinPoint F1: 2.9%

- Samsung EcoGreen F1 : 1.6% - Samsung EcoGreen F1: 1.6%

- WD Caviar Green WD10EACS : 0.9% - WD Caviar Green WD10EACS: 0.9%

- Hitachi 7K1000.B : 0.8% - Hitachi 7K1000.B: 0.8%

- WD Caviar Black : 0% - WD Caviar Black: 0%

- WD Caviar Green WD10EADS : 0% - WD Caviar Green WD10EADS: 0%

We thus find the DiamondMax 22 and then the 7200.11, followed by the SpinPoint F1.

The most reliable records are those of Hitachi and Western Digital especially with two models at 0% failure during this period!
