The review was generally positive. Here are some excerpts:

What's Hot: In body sensor shift IS, Friendly interface for DSLR beginners, Tilting 2.7 inch LCD

What's Not: No video recording, Less res than the competition, Fewer buttons mean more menu hunting

Their noise numbers show the A330 as never having worse than moderately low noise. They have ISO 800 as being noisier than ISO 1600. They say the noise reduction at higher ISO is aggressive and reduces the camera's resolving power at high ISO. At ISO 100 they say the camera resolves 1970 lines of resolution.

In bright light they say the A330 focuses faster than the Rebel T1i. At the other end of the spectrum, the Rebel T1i was able to focus at EV -2 while the A330 was not.

They rated the color accuracy as excellent.

They liked the grip on the old A300 better than the grip on the A330.

They liked that the price was lower than the recently released cameras from the competition. They pointed out that the A330 dual lens kit costs $50 less than the Rebel T1i's single lens kit.

As for the 18-55 SAM the results were good:

They concluded that the lens was among the sharpest and least distorting of Sony's DT DSLR lenses. Barrel distortion was .50% at 18mm and imperceptible pincushion distortion of .02% at 35mm and 55mm. They said they were very similar numbers to the Canikon 18-55mm kit lenses. Light falloff on the edges disappeared at f/5.6 at 18mm and there was no visible vignetting at 35mm or 55mm, which was considerably better than the Canikon kit lenses. The lens close focus distance was 9 inches which gave a magnification ratio of 1:2.37 at 55mm, making the lens a viable option for close up/macro photography.
