https://www.technology.org/2023/11/11/ukraine-uses-special-spider-boots-to-protect-deminers-at-work/ Ukrainian deminers use special boots to protect their feet and bodies from sneaky Russian anti-personnel mines. "These are deminers’ boots developed in Canada a quarter of a century ago. This is an invention of the company Med-Eng Systems, but now others make such protective equipment as well. At one time, Ukrainians produced similar anti-mine boots using 3D printers, but the plastic shoes broke quickly. Typically, anti-mine boots are made of metal or a tough polymer." "First of all, anti-mine boots are very strong and shield the feet from shrapnel from below. Secondly, they lift the user off the ground – the person is physically further away from the landmines. Those few centimetres can make a big difference. Thirdly, the gaps between the legs of such boots allow the force of the explosion to be dispersed to the sides. Normal boots have a solid rubber sole, which directs more of the energy of the explosion to the wearer’s foot. Spider boots are said to greatly reduce the risk of major foot, leg and groin injuries. The user would still be hurt, but probably not as badly."

https://kyivindependent.com/minister-ukrainian-sea-drones-strike-8-russian-targets-in-year/ Crowdfunded sea drone fleet strikes 8 Russian targets in first year of operation A fleet of Ukrainian naval drones, launched as a result of an international crowdfunding campaign, has struck eight key Russian targets in the first year of its operation, Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on Facebook on Nov. 11. The drone fleet was launched through the United24 fundraising platform, which has so far raised Hr 500 million ($13.9 million) for 50 sea drones. The first strikes were in October 2022, when sea drones attacked the ships Admiral Makarov and Ivan Golubets, according to the video Fedorov posted to social media. Two more ships were hit in the spring and summer of 2023, and the sea drones were used to attack an offshore oil rig in the Black Sea in August. One of the crowdfunded drones then attacked the patrol ship Sergey Kotov in September. Most recently, the drones were used in a strike on Nov. 10 that sunk two Russian high-speed landing crafts stationed in Russian-occupied Crimea. Funds for the first drone were raised within two hours, and was named Kherson, after the city that was liberated from Russian occupation on Nov. 11, 2022. Donations of $250,000 or more allows the donor to chose the name of the drone, which is the case for 20 of the drones in the fleet. The use of a naval drone fleet "is a unique development that changes the doctrine of warfare at sea and makes the Russians fear for their ships," Fedorov said. Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said in August that Russian forces on average manage to destroy 60-70% of Ukrainian kamikaze drone boats before they reach their target. Russia faces "serious problems" with the 30% of sea drones that its forces do not manage to destroy, as the weapons are "very effective."

https://en.socportal.info/en/news/russians-stockpile-nuclear-weapons-in-belarus-bg/ Russians stockpile nuclear weapons in Belarus During nine days of observations, 26 wagons loaded with tactical nuclear weapon components and personnel arrived in Belarus.

https://apnews.com/article/mcconnell-ukraine-russia-senate-israel-bf8dc4899d1e99fd186028a387023b57 Mitch McConnell, standing apart in a changing GOP, digs in on his decades-long push against Russia Mitch McConnell often tells the story of a letter that his father, a foot soldier in World War II, wrote to his mother while he was stationed in Eastern Europe in 1945, as the United States was liberating the region from Nazi rule. “I think the Russians are going to be a big problem,” A.M. McConnell wrote, foreshadowing the communist takeover to come. Almost 80 years later, his son is still warning of Russia. From his perch as the long-time Republican leader in the U.S. Senate, McConnell has emerged as perhaps the strongest advocate in Congress for sending billions of dollars in American assistance to Ukraine as the country fights Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion, aligning himself with President Joe Biden and majority Democrats in the process. It’s hardly a change in outlook for the Kentucky senator, who was first elected to the Senate in 1984 and was shaped by the era when President Ronald Reagan was fighting the Cold War and U.S. foreign policy was centered on the Soviet threat. But while McConnell still thinks of himself as a Reagan Republican, many in his party no longer do. As he faces the end of his fourth decade in the Senate, McConnell’s unwavering advocacy for Ukraine has set him apart from many of his GOP colleagues, many of whom are deeply skeptical or outright opposed to U.S. involvement abroad — particularly in Ukraine. It’s an increasingly prevalent view in the Republican Party, shaped under the influence of former President Donald Trump, who has railed against “forever wars” and praised Putin. “Honestly, I think Ronald Reagan would turn over in his grave if he saw we were not going to help Ukraine,” McConnell said in an interview with The Associated Press this week. He called the Ukraine aid, which Biden has asked Congress to pass as part of a $105 billion request for Israel and other countries, a “no brainer.”

Flyr ukrainske spotterdroner nå fritt rundt over Kherson?
