  7. – Putin er blitt utrolig desperat de siste månedene, og søker Iran og Nord-Korea for å kompensere for tapt utstyr i Ukraina. 14. THE CHALLENGES PIRELLI FACES TO MEET F1’S 2026 RULES TARGETS: - Pirelli agreed to reduce the front tyre width by 25mm and the rear tyre width by 30mm while retaining the 18-inch wheels, aiming to save weight and enhance tyre performance for 2026. Pirelli Boss Mario Isola explained, "We proposed narrower 18-inch tyres to reduce weight, which we believe strikes a good balance." - The FIA anticipates minimal loss of grip despite the smaller tyre dimensions, stating, "We do not expect significant changes in mechanical grip due to the tyre modifications." Says FIA single seater technical director Jan Monchaux. - Discussions about switching to 16-inch rims were held, but concerns over load capacity and increased overheating led to the decision to continue with 18-inch tyres, as Isola elaborated, "After simulations...we opted to stick with 18-inch tyres." - The weight reduction from smaller tyres contributes to the FIA's objective of decreasing car weight by 30kg. Nikolas Tombazis remarked, "The FIA will provide Pirelli with more opportunities to conduct tests for 2026." - Pirelli faces challenges testing on current-era mule cars that lack representative aerodynamics for 2026. Isola clarified, "Our mule cars will be larger, heavier, and lack active aerodynamics." - Pirelli plans to finalize tyre constructions by September 2025, expressing confidence in meeting the ambitious development timeline. Isola concluded, "We are committed to developing the best tyres for the future. If adjustments are needed in the first year, we will refine them." - The reduction in tyre diameter from the current 720mm to 705-710mm is part of efforts to make F1 cars smaller and lighter while maintaining 18-inch wheels. - Pirelli's decision to retain 18-inch tyres is aimed at addressing tyre overheating issues seen with the current F1 rubber, ensuring they meet the requirements for 2026. - The smaller tyres are expected to save approximately four to five kilograms, contributing to overall weight reduction targets set by the FIA for the 2026 season. 18. The minimum age at which a driver can compete in Formula One has been lowered from 18 to 17, opening the door for Mercedes junior driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli to make his F1 debut before his 18th birthday on August 25. The 17-year-old Italian is currently racing in Formula Two but has emerged as the leading contender to replace Lewis Hamilton when the seven-time world champion moves from Mercedes to Ferrari next year. The lowered age limit applies to participation in a full race weekend and single practice sessions, and it will most likely result in Antonelli taking part in an FP1 session for Mercedes at one of the next six races. In 2016 a minimum age of 18 was introduced for F1 superlicence applicants, but changes to the FIA's International Sporting Code this week mean 17-year-olds are now eligible as long as they are "judged to have recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition." The FIA also removed a requirement for drivers to hold a road-car licence, which Antonelli is ineligible for in his native Italy until he turns 18. In theory, the tweaked age limit allows Antonelli to race in F1 before his 18th birthday, but earlier this year Mercedes played down suggestions he might replace Logan Sargeant at Williams before the end of the 2024 season. A free practice appearance is a more likely outcome, as all F1 teams are obliged to allocate at least two practice sessions per season to drivers with less than two grands prix experience.
