Liten ini tweak til Gothic III

Her er en liten ini tweak til Gothic III som hjelper dersom man har en veldig bra PC, men har problemer med å kjøre på High settings.

PS! Jeg skrev at den første tweaken var for folk med en veldig bra PC, noe jeg like gjerne kunne utelatt da det kun skaper forvirring. Saken er at fiksen er for alle, men de som vil merke stor forskjell er folk som allerede kjører på High Settings eller mener de burde kunne det! :)

 

c:\der_du_installerte_det\Gothic III\Ini\

 

Ta backup av filen før du begynner å rote med den! Er du usikker på hva du må gjøre så ikke gjør dette

 

Åpne ge3.ini i notepad e.l.

 

Finn linjen ResourceCache.u32SpeedTreeMaxMemUsage_High=100000

 

Legg til en ekstra 0 på slutten av tallet slik at det står 1000000. De har faktisk glemt denne nullen og dermed så tildeler man mindre minne på High Settings enn ved medium og low settings :D Så fort er det å gjøre feil.. :blush:

Så en tweak som gjelder alle

Dersom man har en ok PC så bør man også gjøre en liten endring til i samme ini fil:

 

Finn linjen Cache.SizeImage= Skriv inn 256000000 som er det dobbelte av det som allerede står der.

 

NB Dersom Gothic 3 skulle gå dårligere etter denne siste tweaken, så er det jo bare å forandre tilbake til det orginale tallet. Dette vil kun være tilfelle dersom du ikke har så kraftig PC.

Det kommer helt sikkert til å komme en stor ini tweak guide fra Gamespot eller noen andre store aktører da dette er et spill, i likhet med Oblivion, som garantert har mye å gå på når det gjelder performance tweaks.

Kanskje trådstarter kan redigere sin første post og legge til tweaks der så de som sjekker tråden ikke trenger å bla gjennom hele posten.

 

Har sett noen skjermbilder med disse tweakene, og det ser mye bedre ut. Bla at du kan se gresset mye lenger frem

 

 

 

 

INI Tweaks: How to make G3 look and perform better!

I decided to make thread that will include almost every ini tweak that has been mentioned in the forums, as well as some of my own tweaked values to make them easier to track.

 

To find the ini go to C:\Program Files\Gothic III\Ini and click on the file that says 'g3'. Always back up your original ini file in case something goes wrong.

 

 

Visual Tweaks:

Keep in mind that the following changes may have a small or great impact on performance and that values can be further tweaked to achieve higher performance/visual quality ratio.

 

 

To increase grass draw distance:

 

- VegetationAdmin.ViewRange=3500.0

 

Raise this value to 6500.0 to double the distance grass is rendered. You can increase it even further or lower it a bit to improve performance.

(My setting is 8500.0)

 

To increase NPC and creature draw distance:

 

- Entity.ROI=4000.0

 

Raise this value to 8000.0 to double the distance NPCs and creatures are rendered.

 

 

To increase item and object draw distance (on high details):

 

- ObjectDetails.fScreenObjectDistanceCulling_High=0. 008

- ObjectDetails.fProcessingRangeFadeOutRange_High=30 0.0

- ObjectDetails.fRangedBaseLoDOffset_High=300.0

 

Change the first value to 0.016

Change the second value to 600.0

Change the second value to 5000.0

 

To move the blur effect further away:

 

- Render.DOFStart=1000.0

- Render.DOFEnd=8000.0

 

Raise the first value to 4000.0

Raise the second value to 12000.0

 

To increase the distance the ground textures switch from high to low resolution:

 

- DistanceHigh.fFarClippingPlane_High=10000.0

- DistanceHigh.fFarClippingPlane_Medium=8000.0

- DistanceHigh.fFarClippingPlane_Low=6000.0

 

Raise the first value to 12000.0

Raise the second value to 10000.0

Raise the third value to 8000.0

 

These can be further further increased if you want. Just make sure that the difference between the three is equal to one another (2000.0 in this case)or you may get graphical glitches.

 

Untested values:

 

- DistanceLow.fFarClippingPlaneLowPolyMesh_High=1000 00.0

- DistanceLow.fFarClippingPlaneLowPolyMesh_Medium=45 000.0

- DistanceLow.fFarClippingPlaneLowPolyMesh_Low=20000 .0

 

I haven't tested the above values but they seem to affect the quality of meshes rendered in the distance.

 

 

 

Performance Tweaks:

 

I haven't really tested many performance tweaks yet except for the following. Visual tweaks also affect performance, so there is some boost that can be gained from them as well.

 

Less stuttering/lag:

 

- Cache.SizeImage=128000000

 

Double this value to 256000000

 

This is supposed to work for people with 2GB of ram but it may be worth testing even if you have less than 2GB. It seems to make the game stutter/lag a little less when loadind new zones. It might not have an impact on everyone though.

 

 

 

Well, this is all for now. I'll keep this updated with new tweaks as they are discovered. If you find any, post them here and I'll update the post.

PS: If you can tell me where to host them (imageshack doesn't allow big files), I'll show you some before and after pictures.

 

 

 

I'll do some more tests tomorrow. In the meantime, anyone with a multicore processor can try changing the values on the following:

 

Threads.ImageCount=0

Threads.MaterialCount=0

Threads.MeshCount=0

Threads.SoundCount=0

Threads.VertexpoolCount=0

Threads.PVSPrefetcherCount=1

Threads.CollisionMeshCount=0

Threads.AnimationCount=0

 

I'll test some comabinations myself and see if I can get some better performance by taking 100% advantage of my dual core.

Når du sier "ge2.ini", mener du da "ge3.ini"? Jeg har i allefall ingen ge2-fil. :hmm:

 

EDIT: Er det forresten noe vits i at jeg endrer på den øverste greia? Se specs'ene mine på profilen min. Jeg har jo en ganske grei PC, men den er absolutt ikke verdens beste, eller i nærheten for den saks skyld.

Ja! Du har helt rett :) Min feil, en liten typo. Skal rette på det!

Jeg ville gjort det fordi det er en feil som ikke skulle vært der uansett om man kjører på High eller ikke.

 

Selv om jeg kjører på Custom Settings så har jeg forandret på ini filen. Var en stor forskjell hos meg da jeg testet på High etter jeg forandret den.

takk for disse, virker som spillet går glattere nå.

Her er noen tips jeg plukket opp på http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=4300

 

Har prøvd å doble disse verdiene, og jeg merket at landskapet ble mer detaljert lenger ut (litt som noen av tweakene du kunne gjøre i Oblivion). Er jo masse settings i .ini filen, så etterhvert vil man nok få noen gode tweakguider som vil gjøre at mye av "bluren" som man har på avstand kan forsvinne.

 

 

Entity.ROI=4000.0

 

Camera.ZFar=10000.0

Camera.ZFarLowPoly=70000.0

 

Been playing around with those commands some more and this is what I found.

 

The first command seems to controls NPC view distance and and the two others control how the landscape look at a distance.

(Think the first one controls the detailed view distance and the second one controls lod landscape distance)

 

Increasing them too high causes crazy stuttering and will probably take up alot of ram and it they also cause the horizon to look weird. (White and with missing land)

 

Tried to double all three settings to see what they did and it was easier to notice what they changed when adjusted directly with the console. (Instead of restarting the game and tweaking the INI file manually, though that way the settings stay changed)

Kan fortsatt spille Custom, men den første tweaken har med High settings å gjøre, så det er ikke sikkert at du vil merke noe særlig stor forskjell (kommer an på hva du forandrer på i Custom Settings selv).
